blitz fmic vs pfs smic which will/does perform better
Ok so Ive narrowed down my choices of intercoolers to these two units.Idealy I would go for the v-mount setup but its just too damn expensive. In any case heres what I would like to know.
I dont want a smic versus fmic debate on here. Its been done to death already I just want real world results with your setup.
If you have either of these two intercoolers and running them with the stock twins heres what I would like to know.
How is turbo lag on either of these units.Meaning does it increase with either of these untis. The blitz is a huge core so I think it may increase lag.I dont know thats why im asking.
There isnt going to be any overheating issues caused by the Peter Farrel smic.
Now with the blitz fmic there may be.Although everyone that owns a blitz rarely or if at all said their car has overheated.I need all this info to make an informed decision.Actuall data number would be ideal. As in how much did the intercooler setup lower your intake temps? and did the setup raise your coolant temps?
If I can think of any other questions ill be sure to post them up.Thanx everyone.

One other thing. This setup is for street use.Not drag racing at tracks or auto crossing.I just want a great street setup. For occasional spirited driving if you know what I mean.

Go with blitz Fmic i have greddy fmic and koyo rad and it prforms great. It will lower your intake temp but you need to fabricate some kinda of ducting for radiator so it can get more air.

Ive searched around and theres plenty of info on either setup.Im more or less looking for a vs match between the pfs vs blitz. As far as which setup is better overall. The reason im asking all of these questions is because I need as much info as possible.Another thing is that the blitz fmic is 1300 bucks and I have an opportunity to pick up a pfs smic for 750.Thats why the decision is that much harder.I also dont want to go through the great hassle of putting in a fmic.Ive heard it can be quite a pain in the ***.So im very torn between these two units right now.

Just go with the blitz FMIC the SMIC is great for ease of installation but as far as intake temps the FMIC would be yur best bet less heatsoaking than a SMIC since you said this is basically a street driven car..
I was about to buy the blitz too, but I got such a good deal on Chucks V-Mount set up so thats what I went with.

Thank you mahjik for your help on this.I figure the longer the piping the more lag you have.I think that perhaps the pipe that is closest to the battery can be cut to make a straighter transition to the throttle body.Ill have to play it by ear and see on this aspect.I may not cut it in case I wsih to sell it later on or something.

Well, I wouldn't suggest cutting the stock PFS piping. You could look at creating some new piping if you like. I haven't looked at the piping closely, but I imagine the bends are there to help clear the pullies and the airpump.
If you are removing the airpump, you can probably make a straighter shot pipe for that side. However, for the other side, as long as you can clear the pullies (and are still able to close the hood), you can make any piping you like.

My PFS was cut to run a single turbo, It was actually the IC Adam Sawatari ran 10.3 on so I am sure the PFS will fit your performance needs. I love the ease of install and the great fit. My friend had the Blitz FMIC and it was an OK IC. He had a Koyo and sometimes in the summer his car would run a little hot. If you have a stock radiator I would go with the PFS. His intake temps would be no more than 1C on the Power FC lower than mine. The advantage he had with the FMIC is less heat soak, his temps would drop faster than mine after the car had been sitting. Hope this helps
