Black Recaro's recovered in Alcantara
Thanks to Ramy in finding me some rare parts. I was really debating the Red Recaro's with the IBM paint but decided to go more the understated look. Also, I didn't do as much as gmonsen on the seats. The only thing that was added was a blue contrast stitch around the "Recaro" lettering. Alcantara for the comfort and durability....

Ramy has a guy that does it there....so it saved on back and forth shipping. I think he has more connections with that stuff than me.
I wish I could try the real seats first before the alcantara to compare....but I like how it feels and is cool vs. leather. I hope it wears well especially the bolster as you climb in and out.

Doc, I'm SUPER happy you like 'em (I got your email don't worry, and I'll get 'er done ASAP). The seats look even better in the car...wow. You're making me think twice about my own personal seats! haha. I love how subtle yet distinct the blue lettering came out! I trust you received the extra/unused material? That should leave ya well rested should the bolster ever wear down in the next 10 or so years
Gene, it's not so simple; that's GENUINE Alcantera/Ultrasuede; very VERY high end stuff (the highest end I could get my hands on), which took a LOT of prep work to lay down and get to mold to the seat like that. The material is a lot thicker than you'd anticipate!
All the best,

It was done by mark Koch on this forum...unfortunately he stopped doing it...Really great work.
I found an old thread.
What is really amazing is that I know he has done other cars...but I think I am one of the few still on the forum that people constantly see it. I would think there would be parts floating around.....

7_Racer... I k new Mark really well when he was making those beautiful CF pieces. Of all the CF I've seen, his is the best by far. There's a thread on rare parts and Mark's CF pieces should be considered among the rarest. (Not a CF fan, but his CF is beautiful.)
First time I've seen another set of RZ seats that had been recovered. The Alcantara is a really nice treatment. In keeping with the originals and far more durable re bolsters.
As Ramy said, real Alcantara is among the most expensive material. I used it (same color) on my last car and bought it from Sparco directly. It was many times the cost of the cheap, thin material sold as Alcantara-like material.

I think we have all seen vendors come and go, but Mark's work was truly special. I don't know if I would do it again, as it's a bit high maintenance....but when I get in the car, it is a part that brings a smile to my eyes every time I get in.
