The best upgrade

What is the best modification to start with. I have a 95 R2, and I want to make an upgrade that will make a decent difference, and not cost me my life to buy.

Downpipe, extra reliability and performance rolled into one nice neat little package. Don't forget to spend a few bucks on a boost gauge too.

Also, aluminum AST and turbo timer.

I'd agree with a downpipe. You get 15-20 rwhp and takes a lot of stress and heat off the turbos. Plus the stock precat has a tendancy to clog and cause many problems

•Boost Gauge(cheap, easy to install)

•Downpipe($300/pain to install but well worth it for benefits noted above)

•AST elim or replacement(cheap/easy to install)

Why stop at just one?

Turbo Timers are a waste of $$$ (search past discussions on the Big List)

Well that is the answer I guess. I already have a cat back exhaust, a boost gauge,a cold air intake system, and a turbo timer. So a downpipe it is. So my next question is.....who makes the best downpipe. I'll repost that question

If you get the Pettit they will send you new little pills for free so your boost wont go to high. Without them you'll boost to high for the stock ecu. If you get another brand like M2 you'll need some form of boost controller. Hell, with the mods you already have along with a dp M2 will tell you that you have to buy thier ecu but as long as you keep the boost at about 10psi the stock ecu should be fine fir these mods.

Pettit makes a nice dp so I'd just get thiers.

Later,

with the mods you already have, a downpipe would be ok. But, your stock ecu wont hold up too good. I suggest you save money and buy a ecu and then downpipe.
just my 2 cents.

I think all 3rd gens should have a downpipe, intercooler, ECU, and the fan mod. the factory version of those 3 things suck ***!
