Best method to premix

Im running premix only. Everytime I fill up my gas tank and premixing, it gets messy. Premix oil drips or leaks. How is everyone premixing without it getting messy? What tools and methods are you guys using.

Its not messy to me. A skinny deep funnel, pour premix down the middle so you dont get the whole funnel coated in oil. Go and pay for gas while leaving funnel in, most of the oil will drip down before your back. Plastic bag in trunk to put funnel in.

I pour directly from the quart bottle into the gas tank, just taking it a little slow. Usually put the oil in first then fill with gas to mix it up. I eyeball the amount with it running about 8oz or a 1/4 of the bottle each fill up. Not messy at all if you go slow.

It is recommended 1/2 oz per 1 gallon.

since we are on this topic, do I still follow the roughly 1/2 oz per 1 gallon if I still have the OMP functional? or should I use less premix if I am running stock OMP

I get those little empty Chainsaw 2 stroke bottles from a Buddy.
I buy a 16 oz bottle and fill the Little ones up.
They hold about 2.5 to 3 oz.
Depending on what I put in for gas,I put in One bottle per 3-4 gallons.
I usually carry 2.They are small so I put them beside the Passenger seat on the floor tucked down in between the rocker and the seat.

This. No special equipment needed. Just don't rush it. Unlike my FC, which needed the funnel etc or it spilled down the fender.

As far as storing in the bin, I keep enough bottles in there so that none can turn sideways. They will leak from the caps.

I'm planning to go with Pettit Racing Protek-R so it's gonna be in a huge 1 gallon jug, just gonna get a smaller long necked bottle like the MMO one and fill it up with premix, then I can just pour it in without a funnel.

I got a model airplane fuel filler bottle... it's a graduated clear plastic bottle with a long snout, so you can just squeeze/pour, cap it and go.

Only thing is, the oil seems to soften it after a while and you need to replace it or it falls apart.

I used to get 8oz bottles of premix and I am running 1oz per gallon of gas (no OMP) so I just always would get 8 gallons of gas. lol. Pours right in, empty out, toss out bottle. no mess or drips anytime.

I use a marine oil transfer pump. It screws right into the premix bottle. It has a cap on the end but it still seeps a little in between fills so I just wrap the end of the tube in a rag and that's that.

On the website it mentioned not using with ethanol or ethanol based fuels, would that include the; up to 10% ethanol; at most all my local gas stations? I'm considering buying a Rtek7 ecu upgrade and a case of premix unless the ethanol will pose a problem. Otherwise I've found a replacement used OMP at rx7hut.com but would like some feedback about their buisness.

I use the Rotary Aviation OMP adapter and have a Mishimito oil catch can in the engine bay that is modified for premix use. So, I fill it up with Idemitsu and I am good to go for a number of gas refills. No need to go thru that each time you fill up

At the same time though, you're only dripping oil onto the center of the apex seals, as apposed to lubricating the entire chamber with premixing into the fuel tank - But I'm sure you're aware of that .

I just pour it in from a bottle, bottle is filled to the amount I need for 3/4 a tank as I always fill up when I hit 1/4. Works for me.

I uses these 8oz bottles from REI. I have about 6 of them. Just fill up 8/16 gallons at a time. It's fairly easy to do.

Flat Oval Poly Bottle - 8 fl. oz. at REI.com

To each his own. I do it the OEM way and it's worked for me. I do admit that when I am going to do some hard driving or track the car, I also premix

I buy the 16oz 2 stroke oil bottles from walmart, and I have a long and thin flat head scredriver; so with the scredriver, I hold the flapper open, and pour the 16oz bottle into the gas tank.

Throw away the bottle, and clean the screw driver with a towel (most gas stations have them)

I just went straight from using QuickSilver 2 stroke mix to Marvel Mystery Oil for premix. The long neck MMO bottle sure is nice.
