battery relocation to rear bins

do you have to cut the bins to fit an optima battery in there??
i know several people have dont this using the optima batteries....just doesnt look like it would fit right out.

what do i need to do?

where did you run the ground from the battery to??

and how did you do the connections at the engine bay - grounds and connections to that fuse box.

thanks

ok i don't know much about rx7 so i ask a lot of question and everyone always answer. I know about battery relocation thought so i will help you.

Yes, you do have to cut the bin to use the optima.

i got my ground on the same ground as the switch for the door that says if it is open or not. Undo the side panel and you will understand what i am talking about. You just need to be sure the contact is good by sanding the paint.

the connection on the engine bay is quite easy, just undo the positive battery connection and you will see that there is a screw, just tap the connector (that you will buy to put at each end of the wire you are going to run from the little fuse box to the battery inside the car) to that screw.

I took the positive line out of the engine bay and connected it to the starter.

trust me on that one, remove the inner plastic fender on you front driver wheel, you will understand where to pass the wire without drilling any hole in the firewall.

Puma is right on that one!! The hole is huge and will save you some trouble if you are anything from the engine bay to the inside.

if you connected the positive to the starter then just take apart the fuse box by taking out those little bolts and nuts and taking out the metal piece that extends out to hold the metal piece that goes to the battery post. you can take out the negative wire by unbolting it (i think) but i just cut it off at the very bottom where it connected to the chassis.
