Custom intake

Some people have modified the stock airbox with additional ducts for more air. So far, I haven't heard of anyone who made their own 'box'. I suppose it's not too hard.
I would be really interested in an airbox that draws on cold air from the nose. As far as I am concerned, the M2, RX7fashion intakes are SHIELDED intake system, not COLD air intake system since they don't have any ducts that takes ram air.
The stock intake has a tube from the nose. There is additional space on the passenger side of the nose that can be used to attach another hose or two to draw air into the stock box. I think if I get desperate, I may try that.

I made a cold air intake for my FD when I first got it. I bought 2 filters (just APC 3" inlet cones) and mounted the first straight to the lower intake tube. For the upper intake tube I had a hard pipe slightly bent and expanded from 2.5" (tube side) to 3" (filter side) and attatched the filter to the hardpipe. The upper filter sat right behind the front facia, but on top of the lower filter. The other hoses for air pump, etc. I fitted the smaller APC filters to, all with hose clamps. Everything kept under $100 and worked very well. I now run an apex intake, but this was a great and inexpensive alternative.
