thought = its a damn good thing to do, difficult, you will need a lift to run the wires neatly underneath the car, or find a way to run them through the doors and under the interior panels... my friend has it relocated, it looks clean, and the engine bay looks 200% better without a hunky battery sitting up there.. its around 200+$ for the relocation kit, and its a pain in the *** to do..

I'd do it if i had the time and money.

My mechanic uses welding cable and enters the car through the fender well and runs through the rocker panel to the rear storage . The cable is about $1 per foot, why buy a $200 kit ? Rubber grommits protect the wire from the sheet metal. He makes grounding straps from the cable also . makes his own ends to fit also .Try it you will like it .

I used 1 guage wire and ran it through my center console under the carpet to the back (not 100% neat but **** it works LOL) connected to a Optima yellow top and had a plastic battery case ($10 bolted to some stock bolt holes in the rear trunk. Grounded the battery with the 1 guage too. Wire is thick as hell.

I used #2 welding cable and went through fender also. Welding cable has many strands which makes it very flexible. I bought an AGM Westco Miata battery ($80, 475CCA, 31Ah, 23lbs) from GoMiata.com and this battery fits in a storage bin without cutting out the bottom of the bin. It also has regular automotive terminals.

its easy!! if it will let me post the pics.. I used jumper cable to run positive from the battery to the + post on the main fuse block. I removed the eyelet that would normally go to the battery terminal, and just put another eyelet on the cable and then bolted them togther...segoy cahntahn!! that means really easy!

good luck, and remember, unplug the battery ground and check everything to make sure you dont start arc welding your lines together when you plug your battery back in =)

sure, I put mine in the rear passenger side bin. Pics are floating around somewhere. I ran some 2 guage wire though the firewall down the side of the door and under the driver's side bin to the battery. I bolted the battery to the floorboard and hooked up the negative to a cleaned up spot right near the battery. I really should take more pics but what's the use, the forum will not let me post them

Better add a fuse or circuit breaker between the battery positive terminal and where the positive cable goes through the sheet metal of the car. Without it, if the positive cable gets the insulation broke through due to wear or an accident, you'll have a fire in your interior.

This is commonly missed unless you've experienced it or met someone who has.

hrmmm would it be reasonably doable to move all those relays with it? I've never liked having them there.
