There was a group buy going on for the braille battery, I'm pretty sure it is closed (there were only 10)
But you can still buy them at regular price from there web site. The battery only weighs 11.5 lb.... It's tiny!

Get a Group 51r and a TurboJeff ss tray (search for info) - Optima Yellow Tops come in this size as do many other brands - I am curently running a Die Hard Silver 51r. Just make sure the battery you choose can deliver At Least 400cca w/ a 90 mi reserve - anything else is really too small for a daily driven fd

I would not recommend optima. I am on my 3rd, thanks to warranty. The first one was DOA. The second one was fine until just before the warranty was up. I didn't drive my car for about 3 months so I unhooked it and when I reconnected it, it was dead. Didn't take a charge, much like the DOA that I recieved. It was replaced under warranty, but once this one goes bad, I'm done with optima. Also, my battery is located in my passenger bin, so it's not exactly exposed to harsh conditions either.

Unless you're relocating the battery, I'd go get the cheapest (WalMart) that fits and plan on replacing it every couple of years. I do this in all my cars now and have found that this is less costly than buying an expensive battery with a long warranty only to have them fail prematurely anyway--primarily due to heat. Especially in the FD engine compartment. It also keeps a relatively fresh battery in the car. Even the best batteries lose capacity after awhile and most lose about half of the reserve after about 2 years of normal conditions.
You might also check in Consumer Reports. They periodically test and report on automotive batteries.

I used a 12lb hawker or odyssey(sp?) pc680 on my daily driver with no problems. A little tricky to mount because of its small size. I guess it depends on if the cars daily driven, car stereo etc. If i had to do it again it would be another pc680 or a 51r.

Sorry guys, I know this is an old thread. But I thought I should just posted here.
I'm currently using a 55 ampere batt. Is it sufficient? What's the recommended battery size/amp?
