Needed to replace my factory sized battery. And planning to go single turbo etc.

not sure on the intercooler yet (any suggestions for 400-550hp max- Hks t51r?)

but battery wise, I got the (I believe that’s what it is) knight sport smaller batter tray in place of the stock tray. To use a smaller battery.

any recommendations with this? Mainly a weekend only car driven mainly on the streets

I run a 51r size battery.

A smaller battery tray from 20 years ago, can't remember from who.

 

Seems like it should make little difference which turbo or power. Pick an intercooler and then figure it out. If you end up relocating it’ll narrow things down.

My vote is something AGM, to avoid acid leaks in the engine bay. I agree it makes sense to buy the intercooler first and find a battery that fits after that.

Fun fact just learned, the Odyssey Batteries are now made by a company called Ensys (i think they also make Optimas), but they used to be made by a company called Hawker

apparently AGM batteries were developed for this thing, which is super cool.

I don’t see many fd’s running 51r yellow tops.

is the pc680 and the 51r battery sizes the same?

 

nope!
PC680 is 7.27" x 3.11" x 7.55"
51R is 9.375" x 5.125" x 8.8125"

 

Got a pc680.. very small! But cool! Now just need the jp3 battery tray for it… in anticipation of a future greddy vmount with it…

I thought I read somewhere the gauge cluster lights dimming when you depress the brake pedal? Due to some voltage issue?? I see it on my fd too
