Is there a base seat cover like the leather ones available from mazda? Or does anyone know the type of material use in the base seats?

Take it to an upholstery shop. They'll be able to recover it for you.

I actually have tan leather seats but I really like the base seats.

I'll say this, I've got 84K miles on my base seats and they look exactly like they did when I bought the car new. I've never done anything special to protect them. I don't know what magic formula/weave mazda's supplier came up with but I'm impressed.

I had an upholstery shop recover some TII seats back in my FC days for $300 for both seats - that's out the door, all labor, new foam in the seats, everything. Turned out killer.

Just hit up some local upholstery shops for price quotes.
