barely making 7 to 8 psi need some help.
Ok so yesterday I finally got tired of having terrible primary boost response and low boost. So I decided to start looking for the cause of my problems.
A few notes as well.No matter how high I turn up the boost controler I still cant muster anything higher than 8 psi.
My air pump died a while back so its been disconected for a while now.I think about a year.
Here are my current mods.
PFS SMIC,downpipe,catback,efiny y pipe,intake,greddy profec b spec 2
So heres what ive found so far.I checked some of the check valves with a mity vac pump.I found that the pressure chamber check valve is leaking.
Would this affect my boost this drastically? more importantly would this affect my primary boost and overall boost? I checked the pressure chamber itself and it holds vacuum just fine. The vacuum chamber and the vacuum chamber check valve is also alright. All of the solenoids are relatively new.About 1 year old.If anyone needs any additional info ask and you shall receive.I hope someone can help me figure this nightmare out.Im so sick of this sequential hell.

hmm its a thought.Ill have to check on that and see if its fixes the car.I would so feel like a dumb *** if thats what it was.
Then again id also be relieved that it was an easy fix.Ill go and try that and see what happens. But maybe not today. The weather here just got seriously shitty.LOL. Thanx for the idea Jonski. Come to think of it I did find it strange that my max boost was only the bare minimum that the system can be limited to.I thought that maybe my boost controller was broken.

Also, be sure to check for a broken cuppling. Twice within a year have I broke one of them and couldnt get more than 5-6 PSI with a stock computer. Now i have a PFC and replaced all stock couplings. Can you hear some sort of leak or whistle when you crank the RPM?
Considering the crazy weather curiosity go the better of me.So I went outside and swapped the connectors. No change in condition.Whats really messed up is that the car is now down on even more boost. the max I can make is now down to 6.5 psi according to the profec b.No more
So whatever it is ,it seems to be getting worse as time goes on.This is also on a cold day so I should be a up a few psi if anything. Not down.

Ill have to wait untill there some nice weather in order to check this out.Which nuts are you talking about Pat? the two that conncet the crossover tube to the y pipe or the 4 smaller ones that connect the y pipe to the compressor housings on the turbos? Ill check them. But Im pretty sure ive tightened the **** outta them.Nonetheless ill check it since it could be any number of things at this point.
I have a few theories at this point but nothing concrete.Given the fact that im losing more and more boost I most certainly think its either a huge boost leak somewhere,or a restriction in the exhaust system. my boost pattern is now something like 6.5-5-6.5
Heres something that im not sure is normal.I had to relocate a few things in order to fit the pfs smic.I had to shorten the secondary intake and i also had to vent the crv.I dont know if its normal or what is causing such a huge air leakage. But my bet is on the crv.My buddy Jason(MPFCC) he is on this forum rode along with me and said it sounded like a huge air leak.At this point I think he may also be right.

what would a leaky pressure check valve behave like?
basically what would the effects be on the turbo system if pressure was leaking back intot he pressure chamber?
Also will a clogged up cat affect both primary and secondary boost equally ?

What about a bad blow off valve? Just a thought.......
Also, how long have you had the car together? Is this something that it just started doing after working properly for a long time?
Reason being, I had two vacuum lines switched, and I couldn't make much boost, and I had the loud air noise.
Hope that helps..........

which vacuum lines did you switch up? I managed to do something similar when I switched the vacuum line that goes to the pressure tank and connected it to the vacuum chamber check valve.Needless to say i was making about 3 psi if that.
Here's what I(actually my mechanic) did.

thanx for the link Vader. I dont remember messing around with anything in the crv area. What I do remember is that I was having issues with primary boost and found my pre spool actuator hanging by a very loose bolt.Needless to say the pre spool actuator is bolted up nice and tight but now I have primary boost and secondary boost issues.
So I either have a huge boost leak somewhere or I think my cat is clogged.
or worst case scenario my turbos are shot to hell.

I think that if you're cat was clogged, it would not only affect your secondary boost. You would have problems everywhere, as well as it would smell pretty bad if i remember correctly.
It sounds like you're got a leak. If your turbos were bad, I think you'd be seeing smoke, or at least smelling oil.

actually i dont have just a secondary boost problem. Both my primary and secondary boost is affected equally. So that may be the cause.
The turbos arent smoking so that cant be it.
Unless theres some leak somewhere that is affecting both primary and secondary boost.

if you're hearing air, I would think it has to be a leak. I don't recall hearing air when my cat was clogged. You're going to have to spend some quality time with your baby to find that leak, or take it to someone who really knows their stuff, and can find it for you.
since youve had a clogged cat.what and how did the car behave? what were all of your symptoms? Im just trying to rule it out if possible.
More than likely some vacuum hose ripped or popped off and thats why im getting shitty boost. But then again I sprayed two cans of carb cleaner and found nothing. The idle stayed the same.Which is the weird part.

Man, let me try to remember.........it was a while ago.
I think I had slow spool up, but what I remember most was the rotten egg smell that accompanied this.
God, that was rough.
I'm sorry I don't remember more. I don't remember hearing air noise.

Check for a bad BOV,... and also check the TB/Compression Tube (Elbow) rubber gasket. Make sure the bottom two (12mm) nuts are tight.
Ive actually swapped out the crv with the stock abv.No change.
As for the throttle body elbow gasket its in ok condition. Its fairly new as I changed it out when my old one cracked in half.I wish the weather wasnt so shitty right now.Its actually snowing here.So no workie on car anytime soon.LOL
