Bad synchros?

i'm having trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd gear...feels like i'm grinding (w/o the grinding sound)...just wobbles a lot right before i shift to 2nd...
I think it may be bad synchros? How much to get it fixed? and should i take this one to the dealer for the work?

It might not be your tranny. Double check your engine mounts, your differential mounts, and your Power Plant Frame for cracks and or wear. If it's not grinding I'd check the whole system, before I assumed my tranny was bad. Does this happen in any other gear change? What year is your car? How many miles? Have you changed the tranny fluid recently? The cost of rebuild/replacement depends on where you go. Post more information and then we'll discuss tranny replacement/rebuilding after we know it's the problem.

the car is 95 pep...
43k miles on it...no racing no abuse
it only happens when i granny shift from 1st to 2nd...
and i think it's starting to slowly happen when i'm shifting to 3rd now...
but if i shift really fast...it goes in smoothly
i haven't changed the tranny fluid yet (only had the car for less than a year)...so i could try that first?
