Bad power steering pump?

I notice lately that when i come to a stop my idle is stuck at 1200rpm, when give the wheel a good tug to the left the idle drops to 850rpm which is normal on my car. I know that the connector from the pump has something to do with engine load but not real sure when i'm at a stop light idling?

Is there something wrong with my pump or electrical side of it?

I think you have a vacuum leak somewhere which is raising your idle. It is normal for RPM to drop when at a stop after turning the wheel because the pump is loading. If you were at a normal 850 rpm and moved the wheel it would briefly drop RPM.

Now that I am reading again...are you saying that after a tug the idle drops and stay at 850 solid or does it jump back up to 1200?

It does not raise back to 1200rpm. When I stop and don't move the wheel it will stay at 1200rpm, if i move it it drops to 850rpm. It doesn't seem normal for it not to drop on it's own after stopping. What would be the problem?
