bad news
well guys i just wrapped my 1st gen around a telephone pole because of shitty drivers on the road so im thinking of buying a 3rd gen(my dream car) . I was wondering why all the 3rd gens are always getting new engines around 70k. I was just wondering if they get engine problems around then or what the deal was. Ive noticed countless accounts of this and i was worrying that maybe a 3rd gen is a bad idea. Please make me think otherwise by telling me what happens to them. Thanks alot guys its greatly appreciated

We need some type of automated system where if a post has the words "NEWB" "JUST BOUGHT A RX-7" or anything else like that it automatically posts the FAQ link. HAHA

I agree with this statement.
OP, I see that you just turned 17. I got my first one when I was 16 (22 now). I really didn't know any better when I bought the car and neither did my family. I knew I was a skilled driver and mechanic, but the FD was a whole new ball game. I fucked up a few times (cornering during turbo transition) and am lucky that I didn't get in any wrecks where I actually hit anything.
If I had to do it again, would I? Probably. I loved my first car, had it for 2.5 years, and felt sick after I sold it. So sick that it is a few years later now and I have another one (had to sell my TT 350Z that I had been building for 3 years to get it). I guess the moral of my post is, don't think of the FD as any other car. When you screw up, they bite back, and they bite back hard. Tricky sons of bitches, but the most fun I have ever had in a car. So, just don't jump into anything...because I really don't want to see another FD destroyed or anyone hurt because of the FD.

Can you guys imagine how bored you would be if it weren't for newbies? Honestly - you're not going to sit and post in old threads in the freakin archives or the FAQ...
So why not just help them out? Instead of spending 5 minutes bashing them, spend 5 minutes helping them search and point them in the right direction. Not that freakin hard.
If it weren't for new threads about old questions, we'd all be stuck in "all your base are belong to us" or AARotary threads... if you even remember them.
Lighten up - you were new once too.
