Unhappy bad fuel pump?

Hey Guys,

How can you tell if I have a bad fuel pump? I was driving my car yesterday and was boosting hard @11psi for about 1~1.5 miles when all of the sudden, the car just fell on it's face.

The car lost all power and the check engine light came on. It just sputtered and it sounded like the ignition was still working. Not sure, I can hear the air being sucked in but nothing else is happening.

I tried turning turning off ignition and then turning it on again (while coasting) and all was good for a few more miles. This happen many more times thereafter. I don't know if it's a bad fuel pump or another problem??????

Thanks, Jay

Yes, I pulled the code but it was kinda hard to count them. I think they were 28 EGR, 27 Oil meter pump, 54 air pump relay, and 38 acel warm up. I did this by jumping wire ground and ten.

If you got an error for the OMP, then that will most likely throw the car into limp mode until it's fixed.

So the OMP error cause the car to run this way? Is this the mechanical portion of the metering or some sort of solenoid?

I would check the stepping motor sensor wires first. Make sure they aren't split and the connector is making a good connection. It doubtful that it's the mechanic part of the motor as there really is no way for the ECU to know that it's working or not.

Where would I find the stepping motor wires. Is it between the crank sensor and the manifold area? I've never tested one before. In the manual it said to check the ecu wire harness? This problem occured soon after replacing my PFC for stock ecu (smog test). Could this cause it to fail smog too, meaning it's not metering oil properly? Too much being injected to the chamber? My plugs looked dark black but not oiled up.

The OMP sensor is on the passenger side of the front cover. The wires run from the sensor to the harness on the drivers side most likely just above the crank sensors.

Yes, also check your wiring to the ECU.
