If you are asking whether Mazda had optional back seats for the 3rd Gen's as were available for the 2nd Gen's, the answer is no. I am not aware of an aftermarket modification to this affect.

It was a factory option....check on ebay and i've seen a few backseats floating around the For Sale Section From time to time...kinda pointless though....there is almost no room to sit in them. But none the less i'm looking to get my hands on some as well.

I got them in my JDM FD... she better not have ankles either.
waste of time, i'd almost rather have the storage compartments... thats what u use them for anyway.

don't get your hopes up... i think local laws mean i have to leave them in.

Well, assuming your girlfriend/friends aren't like East Germany's woman athletes then by pulling the front seat all the way to the front position your gf/friends should fit in. Been there, done that(wife+father-in-law and me in RX-7).

that's a right-drive i'm building up for a buddy. i dunno if he cares about the back seats so he may end up selling them off.

Just goes to show you cannot underestimate the ingenuity of the absurd.

"Let's take these half-assed storage bins and replace them with something really useless".

I forget! They also have motorized bath tubs and toilets out in the world somewhere too!

only since you brought up motorised stuff..

my bro was just talking about making a toilet with a blender built into the bottom for when you have those jumbo ***** that would otherwise plug up the drain.

hit puree for 5 seconds and it's all goin' down the hole!!

and since i'm on random stuff...

i had to double check the spelling of "motorised". turns out, both ways are correct. z or s is acceptable, according to dictionary.com.

^hmmm interesting.

I would like a set of them because I dont use the bins and it would make my insurance cheaper since I live in a state with obserd insurance prices. Maybe because whena storm comes we have to get on the roof and wait for helo's to pick us up! Or maybe it's jsut because 50% of drivers in the state aren't insured and idiots!

Having back seats wont lower your insurance. Its still a 2 seater to them. It may even raise your insurance since they might think you did it custom and now plan to put people back there.

Those saying the back seats are useless have for the most part never saw them. No one is going to ride in comfort back there, but they can ride back there. Move the passenger seat nearly all the way forward, and someone can sit back there. Sure the passengers wont be comfortable, but you can get that 3rd person now. I got a set for the exact same reason.

At the very least, the storage bins take up ALOT of room for the little bit of storage they provide. The rear seats are better for storage than the bins.

It can't be healthy to sit like that.

I also just noticed that that those are kind of like the cosmo's back seats.

I agree with you. When I had a passenger sometimes after school, they had to squeeze in there legs next to my bookbag because you can't put it on the bins or else it'll slide everywhere (i've tried it) and I have a custom sub and amp box that takes up my whole trunk. The rear seats would actually hold stuff in place.

how bout this, 300ZX very very few have back seats, and i've sat in them on too many occasions, very small, yet if you have someone very short (my buddies girlfriend is) then get them in the front with the seat all the way to front, or just go sideays, either way you look at it, they are still usefull for hauling crap around in , cause cause they won't damage stuff if it is easyily broken or strached (computer stuff) and then you don't have to worry bout stuff like that. but over all, they have useless written all over them. thats my opinion

yea,
move the front seat all the way forward so someone can fit in the back, instead of the front.
