just to dip in with my usual correction trivia: the back seats were NOT a JDM option. In Japan the vast majority of FDs are 4-seaters - the only exceptions (off the top of my head) were - RZ, spirit-r type a, and version II type R II (93-95) - and there weren't many of any of those made. All export versions are 4-seater.

My JDM has rear seats - and, as mentioned, they are much better at holding things (shopping, etc) than the bins. They fold forward - so you can still get large-ish things in the back.

I'm 5'7" and have ridden in the back - it's quite possible - not anywhere near as bad as people make out. I certainly wouldn't want to be there for long distances though. They're deep buckets - so the foot space isn't _that_ bad. For small women and children - it would be an entirely useful proposition.

I rate them: much better than a first gen, but not quite as good as, say... an s15

oh, and to utilize the rear seats you _do_ need to have the front seat(s) significantly forward - so, for example, you could drive and have two petite girls on board - one in the passenger seat, and one in the passenger-side rear seat...

Those saying the back seats are useless have for the most part never saw them. No one is going to ride in comfort back there, but they can ride back there. Move the passenger seat nearly all the way forward, and someone can sit back there. Sure the passengers wont be comfortable, but you can get that 3rd person now. I got a set for the exact same reason.

At the very least, the storage bins take up ALOT of room for the little bit of storage they provide. The rear seats are better for storage than the bins.

Actually it does lower my insurance because I have quoted it! I quoted the car in a 2 and 4 seater. Just like a 300zx 2 and 2+2.

thanks,
-josh

just about all insurance companys won't reconize it as a 4 seater since there's never been a 4 seater fd in america

"And now the truth finally comes out."

wtf does that mean?

99% of JDM = 4-seater
100% of export = 2-seater

I do want them cause im about 90% decided that im changing my interior to black and theres no way im retaining the rear bins again. BUTTTTT the only thing thats stopping me is that i relocated my battery to the rear bin, i dont think i can put the seats there with the battery back there. Unless i relocate it again to the trunk but thats a PITA.
