I had forgotten to make a small point regarding this . you are comparing apples to oranges street tires have a much softer sidewall so more stretch stiffens the sidewall and lessens the flex under cornering ,
Now as I understand it . Rcomp tires already have very hard sidewalls . so you can fit a wider tire onto a narrower wheel and achieve same sidewall stiffness . since there is no compromise on a Racing tire to be comfortable on the street as there is on a street tire , like that of the S2k , or Porsche cars mentioned above .
If you look at auto-x cars before when stock class was allowed Racing comp tires they would run the widest tire they could fit even if they got buldge I made the same question regarding the sidewalls and I was explained that it wasnt as prevalent . wider tire always = better times .
I'm not saying using 275 on a 11 inch wheel will not be quicker then on a 9.5 ,
BUT i believe it will be quicker then a 255 on a 9.5 ... As its a very commonly tested subject in autocross .

Some of the racing tires do have stiffer sidewalls, which might make things better or worse, not exactly sure, but if you look at the time attack cars, specifically the cyberevo, they are definitely stretching an A050 tire on that wheel, its stretched pretty good, and if you watch the videos of that car screaming through corners you can see how well it handles and is controlled.

When you fill up your diff and Trany with new fluid do you also fill up the coolers before you connect up your lines?
Do you rely on the oil moving around the transmission and diff and that's what goes in the cooler and out to both the Trany and the diff or do you have pumps?
Did you make new holes and added fittings to connect up the lines to the coolers?
You want to put a big wing out back, but wouldn't you get to the point were your nose is lifting and you start loosing on the handling? Or will you increase your spring rate?

The feed for the trans is the fill hole so you simply run a line from the drain hole to the pump and the cooler and then have it feed into the fill hole.
You fill by topping it off like usual then putting the line back on and running the pump for a bit then top off again.
I'm not thinking about a crazy airplane wing but a larger one than the MS GTC. As mentioned you don't want the wing to cause push, which is the devil. Currently it's an over steer machine even through the faster corners so a somewhat larger wing I'm hoping will help.
I've been talking about a wing for a while so don't expect that to happen anytime soon.
Once it's back from piper I'll run an event or two to see how it's doing and then if everything is solid I'll buy some fresh c71s, pull some weight and do a TT with NASA.

It couldn't hurt but it's another piece to a puzzle that adds weight, gets loose, needs to come off etc.... so I'm hoping the PPF with the extra braces does the trick. The next time I have it off of the car I'll take some pics. Ray at PFS does not play around............when I 1st saw it I just smiled ear to ear, the dude is not afraid of a welder hehe.
Please do! I'm curious if it's modified like the one I did several years back. It was heavier but solid as a tank.

I think a 255/245 tire on a 9.5" wheel will be quicker than a 275. You will also have more contact patch (yes I know this sounds backwards) on the ground with a 245/255 tire than a 275 and it will be a lot better handling. Of course this is just speculation.

and really it has alot more to do then width , tire pressures play a huge role
say a 255 at 35 psi , will have the same sidewall stiffness then 245 @ 30 <-- this is just to give an example . same can be said for 275's run enough psi so that when you turn it uses all of the tire .
as for the cyberevo , we would need to look at alot more data .
And like I said running some stretch is good . but I doubt they are running anything but the MAX width on a tire that they are allowed , and the wheel itself is a bit wider in order to achieve that stretch . They dont downgrade to a thinner tire then they are allowed because the wheel is not wide enough .
alot more information would need to be elaborated like what size tires / wheels they run
and what the allowable tires / wheels are for the class .
Also clearance issues would a bigger tire cause it to rub .

Nice tire info. I was on tirerack checking out my own setup. I have a staggered set up because of my Pettit flares. The front wheels are 18x9.5. The rear are 19x11. The recommended wheel width range for a 235-40-18 is 8-9.5" so i m good there. The rear has 295-30-19 and, its recommended range is 10-11" so I'm good there also. I personally go with the wider wheel on my setup because I like a slight stretch.

I found an old pic of mine. I was told by a fellow forum member "nice boat anchor". Lol! To this day, it was one of the best mods I ever did to my fd when it was stock.
