Axle removal
Axle removal
Trying to replace my rear hub bearing on the passenger side and it won't come off with a hub puller and impact gun so I am going to pull the whole axle since I noticed the diff seal has been leaking a little.
This is where I'm needing some help, I can seem to get the axle out of the diff, everyone has been saying to use a pry bar but I still can't seem to get it out. Any help would be appreciated.
Is there some step I am missing or something?

You should replace the circlip that was holding the axle in when you go to re install the axle. Also make sure the opening of the clip is facing up. It is in section M of the FSM ( I just did this last year

Now that I was able to get the axle shaft off, I tried to get the hub off using a press but it is still stuck on there
lol Its like one thing after another. Anyways does anyone have any advice or experience if this has happened to you before? I would really appreciate the help.

Do you have the hub out of the rear axle flange assembly? If so the race would either have to be heated and pressed or ground down and carefully chiseled off. Grinding and chisel is the FSM method just be careful.
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...wnload-449950/ should be the first link, section M will give you a bunch of info, if you don't already have it
No, I haven't been able to get the axle driveshaft out of the hub. I took it to a local shop that tried heating it up with a torch and using a jaw puller then heating it up and using a press. Both didn't work. I feel like I am running out of options.
Oh damn, I am not too sure where to go from here, if heat has not worked i don't know how useful a penetrating oil is going to be. With any luck one of the forum experts will chime in.
I would think that with a press the shop should have been able to press the half shaft right out. Sorry but I can not think of anything you have not already tried.
Is the bearing seized? I am just trying to get a full picture.

If you haven't gotten the axle out of the hub by now, it it probably permanent.
You will not be the first this has happened to.
One of these days I will take an angle grinder to the CV joint of the one I have that is stuck, just so I can salvage the upright.
