Personally, that shifter looks like crap in that car. I would have went with the 700R4 to get the extra gear.

it's a fully built chevy turbo 350 trans. with trans. brake and all the works....it will hold more torque and hp then any rotary could throw at it...and yes the car still has the 13b in it...

other Performance mods....
to4 single turbo
M2 large stock mount intercooler
Power FC
Profec B (Greddy)
custom driveshaft
custom downpipe
midpipe
PFS catback
1600cc secondaries
HUGE street port
2nd gen. Rotors
2mm coated apex seals
KDR anti-det. Device
TII differential

the engine is not even broken in yet and driving this car is a blast…with the trans-brake you can imagine how it launches…the ratchet shifter forces you to slam it into every gear...(you don’t loose boost between shifts)…and when getting on it the *** end skips with every shift…I can’t find the words to explain how much fun the car is to drive…and for the most part the car is also pretty streetable…

KDR...way to much...there are better, cheaper, and other ways of doing this...If any of you are thinking about going this route...email or call Skip over at KDR...I was to late in the project when he came aboard, but he has some greta ideas and has done similiar setups...

...I'm still working on the custom center consol...I'll post more pics when it's done...

How much drivetrain loss do you estimate there is with that setup versus the stock transmission?

some autos shift faster than humans + manuals, This is the only reason I can see to go that way.

Or because you ahve to share the car with your mom...

My preference is manuals. But, if you like it, that is the key important factor. Enjoy your FD.

A 'built' TH350 would be an awesome tranny for that engine he has. I would imagine he is cranking out 350+hp....?

Good job, TeamChin!

yes…you must shift the car through each gear…you can’t just put it in drive and go…

No, I haven’t yet…Dave at KDR did once to test the trans-brake (very low RPM and boost)… He loved the way the car drives and is very impressed with the setup… the trans. Came out of Marcus’s (turbostreetfighter) car…he had a video posted a while ago launching his car…

not sure yet….It has a custom Edge Racing torque converter and the guy (Andre) from Edge is saying that it will be a maximum of 5% drivetrain loss...not sure what the stock trans. Loss is???

most of the haters and "manual's rule - auto's suck" guys don't really understand what I have here...this car is mainly setup as a track/street car...It will launch harder, pull better, and shift faster than the manual...plus you don’t have to ever worry about missing a shift…

Good job! This is a stock automatic to bad-*** automatic conversion? This will no doubt increase interest in autos and likely cause a jump in their values.

Did you think about a 700-R4? You can build those to be pretty strong too and get your OD gear too.

It has a shorter 1st (3.06 to the 350's 2.52) Second is virtually the same (.1 diff) and your .70 4th. Perhaps there were fitment issues?

Just wondering.

Oh yeah. Are you still using the 3.90 rear?

That's pretty cool

I like my automatic the way it is though. If i decide to keep mine auto but want more power i'll look into you setup a bit more. Can't wait to see what the finished outcome looks like . . . .

I've had old 4 speeds and 3 speed autos with huge converters, and driving around revving and slipping sucks, there is no fun to that. The stock 5 speed is great, unless you make it even better with a 6 speed.
By the way, I was at KDR when they were making a mounting plate for your tranny, and I saw what they had to do
.
No your car woun't launch harder....with a stick it's a variable stall, I can launch at 8000rpm, you can only launch as high as your stall converter.
Pull better, no, the gearset in the stock 5 speed is a lower ratio than a t350, and anyone than can powershift makes it a pretty close race.

You put old technology in a newer car, and you shoulda went 700r4 and had an overdrive also, with a better 1st gear and minimal slippage in the converter rather than the ton you're gonna have.

The only benefit you could hope for is having a huge stall, which with the tranny you chose means you'll ride around with that converter slipping constantly, and no overdrive to boot. This means you took all the top speed outta your car, which will now get crushed on the highway, you won't be able to keep up the revs in highspeed cornering, and your gas mileage will totally blow with the bigger converter, and no overdrive.

So you made the car a drag car for what....your car that runs what....low 13's high 12's? The only way I see doing this is when your motor is overpowering your tranny, which is not so since people are running 10's on that stock 5 speed. Or, if you're running a ton of spray and can't shift in time, which I don't think you are.

If you were a drag only car runnning 9's, went to a this or a powerglide(like someone we know) and the car picked up a few tenths, then I'd say it's worth it.

For now, personally, I think you took the fun out of the car. And I think having the stock 5 speed with a good clutch would have made the most of your money.
