Autocross alignment specs
Hello,
I am planning on getting my car aligned prior to this year auocross season. I have a 93 R1 that is stock with a set of Kumho Victoracers (245/45R16). I was wondering what the optimum setting for auocross is. The car is not my daily driver so I really don't care about adverse tire wear.
I have searched the archives and I haven't found much except for the Petit settings. Most all of the settings seem to max out at around 1.5 degrees of negative camber. I was wondering if anyone is running around 2 or 2.5 with much success.
Also, anyone know a good tire pressure setting for a baseline to start with. This is my first autocross with these tires.
Thanks
Dan

I run -2.2 front and -2.0 rear. I have GAB R shocks and Eibach springs and a Eibach front bar. I typically run 33psi all the way around. If your car is stock except for springs you will probably have excessive oversteer. The front bar really helps when putting the power down coming out of tight turn.
I feel my setup is very sucessful.
I also run 245/45/16 V700s.

Autocross alignment
Here's what I first started out with. This was the same setup that a local hotshoe was using on his RX7. He was running Koni's with a big front bar, typically with the front shocks at nearly full stiff and the rears at full soft.
Compared to the original, stock settings, this was a much more comfortable setup. The car didn't have any tendancy to spin without provocation like the stock settings. Basically it made the car competitive enough (with the Kumhos) to win SS here in the Seattle area couple years ago without any other significant mods other than a straightpipe (of course, that was before the Z06's showed up.....)
Front
-1.74 deg Camber
6.51 deg Caster
0.05" Toe
Rear
-1.76 deg Camber
0.12" Toe
This is my current setup, car is in SS trim with GAB Super R's, Tri-Point bar and Victor Racers.
Front
-1.9deg Camber
4.9deg Caster
-0.03" Toe
Front
Cross Camber 0.1deg
Cross Caster 0.1deg
Total Toe -0.06"
Set Back 0.19deg
Rear
-2.3deg Camber
0.06" Toe
Rear
Total Toe 0.12"
Thrust Angle 0.01deg
I typically run preassures at 36 Front, 33 Rear, I tend to run the fronts at 5 and the rears at 1 or 2. Tire wear isn't too bad, I drive to events on my race rubber.
I have the smaller diameter torsion bar for the front anti-sway bar and have it set to the second adjustment holes from full stiff.
Rear toe settings seem to really settle the car down under power.

Karm has a 94 with the smaller rear bar and stock springs IIRC.

Guys,
Thanks for the info. I had the alignment done and I placed first in SS in a seven car field (4 Z06s, and 2 other 7s).
I was only able to get -1.5 of camber out of my right front because the car was crashed earlier in it's life. Maybe crash bolts will help.

I have a '93 (bigger rear bar) on stock springs and Koni yellows. Tripoint adjustable front bar (.188" wall IIRC) that runs at the middle holes most of the time. 245/45/16 V700 on stock wheels.
1.9* negative camber at the front with .125" toe out
1.7* negative camber at the rear with .125" toe in
usually 38 psi front and 35-36 psi rear but this changes slightly depending on surface
Usually have the front shocks full hard or no more than half a turn from full hard and the rear shocks fully soft or no more than half a turn from fully soft.
Planning to run V710's as soon as they are available and I don't know what will happen then

Out of the box the GAB are even stiffer than the Koni at their hardest settings.

i'm not interested in autoxing my car but from the road course experience i have...crank in all the negative camber you can in front 2.5 to 3. about 2 is plenty in the rear. toe and caster not so important. maybe zero the toe
