Auto to manual wiring questions

I am in the process of converting my 93 Rx7 from auto to manual and had a few questions.

1. I have a friend that has an engine harness, dash harness, the harness that goes to the lights/fuel pump/etc., and the front harness in the bay. The engine harness is JDM though. Will it work with the other harness no problem?

2. Is the engine, dash, bay, and fuel pump/light harness all I will need from the manual car?

You don't need to switch the entire harness.

All you really need to do is the clutch switch and reverse light.

Well I have read that FAQ's that I could use the entire auto harness, but I also read that people have had issues with the back up lights and no cruise control etc (not a big deal on the cruise but I would like a properly functioning FD ya know?). I just figured since my friend has all the harness, just swap it over for simplicity.

Reverse lights is just splicing 2 wires together.

If you already have the car apart and the manual harness isnt crispy, then yeah switch them over, but its much easier to crimp a couple wires together than replace all of the harnesses.

K so I found the differences between JDM and USDM engine harness so I might just buy Rywire engine harness but one more question.

Are all the manual RX7 harnesses the same? I read that since my car is a 93, I need to get the harnesses from the same year. Is that true?

1. to do a "proper" AT to MT swap the dash, front and engine harness need to be changed since they are different from AT to MT. the JDM engine harness is for RHD cars so everything is kind of backwards. as far as i know the jdm and usdm ENGINE harness are interchangeable. you may have to make a few adjustments since the harness is laid for RHD and not LHD.

2. when doing a AT to MT swap the only harnesses you need from an MT car is the front harness (the one that goes from fender to fender), the the engine harness and the dash harness that runs across the firewall NOT the one thats wrapped up in the dash skeleton.

ive spent an incredible amount of time messing around with this particular aspect of the car...

Thanks. Yeah I found a "how to" for converting JDM harness to plug into the US harness. Thanks for confirmation on which harnesses I needed to get off the manual car!
