auto to manual conversion

What is a fair price/amount of hours in labor required for an auto to manual conversion? I'm just looking for a ball park, not the cheapest and not the most expensive.

Are there any serious downsides to doing this?

Sorry, I'll search first. Mostly interested in how much labor I should expect from a mechanic.

It takes a fair amount of time, I can assure you of that. A lot is involved in this process. If you are doing the ENTIRE swap, you have a lot to do -
1. Tranny
2. Pedals
3. Driveshaft
4. Diff
5. ECU
6. Flywheel (counterweight)
7. Clutch (pretty involved)

I can't give you man hours off the top of my head...but I'm pretty sure it's NOT cheap.

Thanks for the links to the other threads the one was helpfull. i saw you posted a few with opinions do you thin kit is worth the money to swap out. i have all the parts but i am weary on doing it the shops out here in japan are asking for 120000yen to do the swap its about 1000 dollars. The auto has a strong kick but i miss sdriving a stick my 300zx and FTO are both stick i need the 7 to make the family come together. do you think this is a fair price and is it worth the money when you drive one that has the ability to do what you want?

Compact cars who specializes in rotaries, will install it for $600 if you supply all the parts. A few members have had it done their and no problems as of yet.
