Attn Drag Racers...Clutch life???

For those of you who do alot of drag racing, how long is your clutch lasting and what type of clutch are you using? My clutch is the ACT heavy duty clutch with a stock disk and resurfaced stock flywheel. I have put about 1200 miles on the car which includes about 25 passes at the track. I run ET streets and launch the car at about 5500 rpms. I am making 315rwhp and 298 ft lbs of torque. The reason I am posting is because my clutch is already slipping. I did have my main seal replaced when the clutch was replaced. Thanks in advance for you input....

Bonez street comp clutch w/ stock flywheel:

5k+ miles (general misbehavior)
70+ passes at the track
I launch at 4,500 on Nitto drag radials
roughly 340rwhp.

The clutch behaves as new, knock on wood. I notice no slippage. Now that I've said that, however, it'll start slipping tomorrow.

It's a disc clutch, not a puck clutch. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I wish my clutch would have held up to 5K miles and 70 passes

not to add insult to injury, but out of curiosity, I looked up the paperwork for the clutch installation, and it was done 8K miles ago. There was no exaggeration with the 70+ passes either. I did 50 alone at the RX7 revolution in Indy, with about 90 people as witnesses.

I'd bet yours had something to do with the quality of the installation.

If you want a serious clutch that's gonna last any length of time to heavy abuse and high hp numbers you're gonna have to spend money on it! I used a multi plate Exedy unit on my FD and it worked flawlessly for the 7K I put on it until I totalled the car. And you had best to believe that between the track and street passes that it saw countless numbers or 3800 to 4000 rpm launches. I may have only had 310rwhp, but still. It felt just as fresh on the day I wrapped her around a pole as it did when she was done breaking in. check with www.randdmotorsports.com about the prices of the Exedy multi plate. Another good option is running the one piece balanced race unit from Toda that is a clutch flywheel combo. My best friend runs that on his Turbo XS Stage 5 upgraded WRX. He dynoed at 412AWHP. His clutch has lasted about 2 to 2.5K without any signs of wear and he launches at 5500rpm! Wish we had AWD sometimes huh? Hope that helps.

it shouldn't be the quality of installation, i installed the same clutch in the same shop (MZM) and mine has more than 10K miles and its still not slipping, and i'm making more power.
i have about 50 passes on it but i race with street tires not slicks.

maybe its a defect?

MZM didn't do the install. It was done at Alamo Rotary.

I don't mean to be personal but I wanted to compare prices, if you feel better PM'ing me if it's ok with you, can you break down the cost of the 900 dollars?

That is quite a statement with 600hp.
I just lost my RPS 6 puck Extream. Was suppost to handle 550hp
I'm pretty sure I'm not much over 500

I'm thinking of the exedy twin right now.
