In case you haven't heard...PianoProdigy's FD is BACK! ***PICS***

Long story short, I sold my FD back in October to a guy in California. I hadn't heard from him in months, and out of the blue, he sent me an e-mail asking if I wanted to buy back my FD. He gave me a good price, so I decided to buy it back. I've decided to do an LS1 swap since I've fallen in love with the driveability of the LS1. I had wanted to do the swap before selling it, but it just wasn't practical at the time. The guy had only driven the car about 500 miles. The car was pretty much in the exact shape I had sent it to him with the exception of a unrolled RF fender (easily fixed) and a few scratches on the front lip (to be expected). The car still runs strong with no problems. I'm selling all of the rotary-specific parts in another thread (as if you can't see the link in my sig).

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm a proud FD owner again!

Actually, yes. The catback will be for sale too. Since the only thing that most people can find wrong with the car is the Folger's can, I figure I'll swap it out for a Racing Beat Dual Tip.

That's pretty neat. Why not keep the FD the way it is, since you already have another LS6?

Why??

If you were to have only one car, and it had to be a V8, why not just keep the Z06??

Well, I almost own the Z06 outright (small loan). My FD has PERFECT paint with no orange peel like any factory paint job will have. It is unique and it is something I have always wanted to do. The FD with the H/C LS1 will also be SUBSTANTIALLY faster than the Z06 for several reasons: better gearing (3.90) and less weight (300 lbs or so). Also, the Z06 is not great for drag racing because the rear-end and tranny setup is fairly fragile and very expensive to fix. My FD already has a Turbo II differential with some reinforcement. All I have to do is swap in a 3.90 gear from an auto (gonna switch with a guy locally) and throw in some 300M axles (ordered) and I'll be good to low 10s.

Also, the FD will not be my only car. I am going to be a bit aggressive on the cam selection for the car. It will still be daily driveable; however, I'm leasing an SLK230 to drive on a daily basis so I won't HAVE to drive the FD when it's shitty outside.

That sounds like a good plan. Cant wait to see the end results.

He was selling all his toys to get into a new investment opportunity. Also, the car did not pass SMOG in Cali, and he didn't feel like dealing with it.

No offense to pianoprodigy but i can almost bet he still lives with this rents which makes it 95% easier to afford such things. I would have a Viper in my driveway now but i put that on hold cause i bought a house.

But if he lives on his own with all these goodies, mad props to him.

No offense taken. You make valid points, and you did it in a legit way. I'm almost 24 years old. My brother and I bought our own condo last fall. I didn't move out until I was 22, so it did help me acquire some of my cars and mod them to the point they are now. Here's a picture of our condo:

My brother is 21 and drives a Z06 as well. He works full time and goes to school full time. Here's a picture of his car:

I'm a full time law student, but I also work part time as an IT Manager at a law firm which pays pretty well. I also have various piano "gigs" every month that pay upwards of $50/hour. I'm also the co-owner of a software development company that is just getting started, but that is still pulling in decent money. Needless to say, I'm not loaded. I receive very little support from my parents. I have worked hard in the past and continue to work hard to afford nice stuff.

Thanks. I remember when you wanted to buy the rear wheels back in the day, or perhaps arrange a trade. Needless to say, I'm already pretty traction-limited with 275/35-18s. An 8.5" rear rim wouldn't help matters since I could maybe run a 245/35/18.

It will meet or exceed the current quality of the car. I don't do things half-***.

I'm excited to get started!
