i just got my car unflooded, it was flooded like insane. should i use some atf to clean it out? if so what kind? i went to the store and there was like 5 different kinds of atf!?

 

no atf is an old wives tale imo. unflood it put in some oil and let it go. atf does not break down carbon and will clog/coat the cat. it does not combust completly as is seen in the spy hunter smoke screen out the pipe.

 

finally someone else who doesn't prefer atf

why take the risk?

 

Are you saying use normal oil instead of ATF? Because atf definitely definitely does start a motor when it is flooded every time. What risks are involved with using it?? I think none since it burns off after you drive. Now about it cleaning carbon I dont know about that.

 

atf is hydraulic fluid. it does seal welll with the corner and apex's so it will help start. but oil does also and was ment to be their so why do something slse? starter fluid will start your car quickly and efficently but would you do that?

 

ATF is high detergent oil, basically. It has a different additive mix to make it more suitable for hydralic operation rather than lubing the insides of an internal combustion engine.

I recommend using 2 stroke injection oil for unflooding. It is designed to burn cleanly. Perfect for this application. Once you have unflooded the car, you don't need to inject any more oil in there even if you unflooded it without oil. You may want to check your engine oil for excess fuel in it (ie change the oil).
