People have different opinions on the subject. You need to get rid of the OEM AST for sure. Here are your choices:

1. Buy an aluminium AST.
2. Remove the OEM AST. You'll need the FC 86 filler neck.

I think the chances are, most people have the older AST. In that regard, the AST must get changed.

I've actually had mine upgraded to a metal one but just had it deleted in the end. I don't miss it at all.

I removed mine too and I don't regret it.

BTW I didn't know they changed the AST in '94. A picture showing the differences between the '93 and '94 would be nice.

Here is our broken-nipple AST (at 98K miles) from our '94 built in Nov. 1993. Don't have a pic of the "XB" replacement, sorry... maybe someone else?

How much does an OEM AST cost? If it's even semi-close I'd go with an aluminum one, unless you want to maintain a stock looking engine bay.

My personal opinion is that rubber and plastic really don't belong in that oven we call an engine bay. I'm not knocking the folks that want to maintain an OEM look though, I understand their viewpoint.

No AST here. Glad that thing is gone. It is something else getting in the way in the engine.
