Driving with coolant seal damage
I am suspecting my car suffers from coolant seal damage. Eitherway I decided to give it a fresh rebuild before my single turbo kit arrives.
The car does not overheat. I add water before I drive the car. I do not boost it. And I only drive the car once a forthnight or so mainly to not let the battery die, not to let tyres go flat etc.
My question is, am I damaging anything by driving the car with warn coolant seal?

If you dont overheat it and dont let it sit for more than 1 week at a time you really arent hurting anything. You can buy a battery tender for about 1/10th the cost of one rotor housing so I wouldnt take too many chances of letting it over heat.
You just need to keep an eye on your temps and coolant level. The danger would be to either run your system dry and/or overheat in which you warp your probably useable housings. If you really are burning coolant, the amount of smoke and hard warm starts will get worse the more you drive it.

Thanks for the confirmation guys. It won't be long before I start a rebuild. I just did not want to pay $$$ for tow trucks in the meantime for little things here and there. And yes I watch for temps carefully and do not let it overheat. However I sometimes let the car sit for longer than a week or two. I think that's one of the reasons why I started having problems with the car; letting it sit for too long.
The thing that would worry me, is that after you have driven it, water stars seeping into the chambers and it starts rusting things..... that is going to be your biggest problem.
You either need to pull the engine apart ASAP or start it often to keep the inevitable rust to a minimum. If it goes too far your plates will be toast.

At the moment I can't start the rebuild because my shopping list is not complete but I will try to drive the car more often. I don't have much time to drive it but will try at least once a week, just gets frustrating to keep adding water, oil etc.

I wasn't necessarily suggesting driving it... It just needs to be run a bit... you could warm it up and shut it down every couple of days if you need

No worries, I will do that.
I'm just so busy with life atm, I have to finish shopping for parts and pull the sucker out like mobeoner said.
I have to buy a master kit, decide which apex seals to get etc. I will have the job done at the mechanics so I don't want my engine and parts lying around for months so I have to have everything ready before the rebuild.
I might start a seperate thread about it but so far I'm thinking Atkins Master Rebuild kit and RA super seals.........
