Question Anything between R1 Spoiler & hatch?

Is there anything (rubber pads etc.) that goes between the R1 spoiler and the hatch?

Don't believe so - I think it just sits right on the paint. I've seen pics of spoilers that have been removed and you can see the rub spots from the spoiler on the paint.

Considering it's supposed to be a permanent addition, it's acceptable .

There are sticky pads that are supposed to seal the bolt holes. They look like industrial double sided tape (not the foam type). I didn't have them and used silicone rubber (clear) and it worked fine. You need something or you will get water pooling inside the hatch and running out when you open it.

Page 3-E11 of the parts catalog

51-965D (p/n FD03-51-9G8)
51-966B (p/n FD03-51-9G9)

are listed as GASKET (C), SPOILER

So, the correct answer to your question is............

I think there should be 4 different part numbers, 2 different seals per side then the L and R. They are mirror image.

Mine had some black spongy pads that I guess after time got pressed and crush so the spoiler rubbed against the hatch.
