Anyone using nitrous?

Did a search, and not much came up.

I was thinking of fitting a 75 or 100 shot.

Anyone running it? Thought it would be ideal on the twin turbo?

From what I've heard, nitrous is not good for the Rx7's. Some people run it but not many and I've heard a lot of people say that they used to have nitrous till their engine blew up and they never put it back on. It would help with lag but that's it and the twins don't have much to begin with.

Cool. I'll stick to a nice ECU.

If you run the 75-100 shot you need an ecu 2 compsate for the increased air going into the engine..From what i have heard anywayz..And why would you need it on the twins?? If anything it would be a large snail you would need it for...

I've heard of people using Nirtrous to help keep the engine cool rather than for power in the RX-7. I'm not familiar enough with the set-up to explain it but I'm sure someone else could help you out on it.

Some people hook the nitrous to spray their intercooler. I don't kno wanything about that but I've heard about it.

And then you die. It's not medical grade nitrous oxide.

I was pondering that question myself. I heard the Zex kit is pretty good and it raises your fuel pressure too. Rick in houston did it to his rx7 and made 371rwhp a@12psi. Not bad at all! I'll wait and see what I can do without the nistrous first then I'll decide. It doesn't matter what you have, a win is a win. Right?

dont a lot of people use "wet shots" meaning it has fuel and nos mixed in so that there's no danger of leaning out? i would think that would be the safest type of kit for an rx7.

I believe a wet systme shoots the nitrous into the fuel chamber vs the intake like a dry system. Just cause you shoot a wet system doesn't mean that you have enough fuel to feed the fire so I think lean conditions could still occur. It's just to hard on Rotary engines. Your car never feels as fast as it does right before it blows up. Lean conditions offer a lot of power and a large price.

Dry system just shoots nitrous, and the wet shoot fuel+nitrous at the same time so you're getting fuel from the wet kit and your injectors.

it just cools it down, no significantly extra horsepower though.

Not enough for the money that you spent on the nitrous kit. If you're going to get one then feed into the elbow.

Hey, I had the zex system running on my beater ( a 91 cavalier rs) lol. It was pretty fun, engine still runs fine, but only ran 1 bottle through. Anyone wanna buy it for $400??? Drop me an e-mail if ya do.

I was considering this but a 100 shot is an awful lot. I would put my money in bolt on mods such as ecu and intercooler.....exhaust, intake, etc. If you do go with NOS then make sure to upgrade your injectors....1300cc should be sufficient.

yeah i don't think i'd ever do a 100shot on an fd, maybe like a kit i saw that offered a 35shot, although would you even feel that? maybe a little i guess

One of the guy that works at rotary performance told me that nitrous is safe for the FD as long as you set it up right. He even told me that nitrous actually help clean out all the carbon deposite in the engine.

Interesting. Maybe we all would benefit from occasional small (like 20) shots of NOS to clean carbon and prevent carbon lock. Anyone heard if using synthetic oil prevents so much carbon build up? I've heard this.

I just talked to a guy at one of our local shops, and he chastised me for using mineral-based oils, even though Mazda recommends it. He claims that synthetic will prevent carbon build-up and pointed out that Racing Beat recommends synthetic, too.

I don't know much about the subject, so I'll be taking their advice.

Ive been told not to use synthetic so that is what I am doing but I might start using a small shot of Nitrous if it will clean out the engine better. hmm...that or drive the crap out of it

So would a mild (35-50) dry shot hurt anything? Would you still need upgraded injectors for something like that?
