Anyone using the Ebay hard intake pipes?

Hey i was looking to get a set of hardpipes but i didn't want to pay $250 for them. In my quest for a better price i stumbled upon these on ebay.

Does anyone have any experience with these pipes? Thanks for the help.

I don't think XOXOparts is Huy. They look identical though, but I didn't get the XOXO ones that came with the extra filters. They both use the same pictures, so who knows. Contact "huybiz" on Ebay. That's who I got em from.

Yeah, I'll be sure to take pics and let you know.

Here is a pic of the hard pipes in my engine bay from a while back...

Ignore my ghetto intercooler mod, it was temporary for the time.

I've been looking at those too, but I don't trust the xoxo parts guy. He's told me that the two pics on his add are of the same thing, just a different angle, and that that is exactly what you get. I even specifically asked if it includes provision to hook up all of the extra stock hoses for air pump, etc and he said yes. Well, the other pic on his ad is clearly the Blitz intake. So he's either a liar, or an idiot. Either way, I don't think I'll buy his ****.

However, just for the pipes, its still a good price. So if somebody buys 'em let me know how it works out :-)

Yeah i could care less about everything except the pipes.
$80 vs $250 tough choice if they do the exact same thing.

I guess I just have a problem doing business with someone like that, even if in the end I get what I want for a reasonable price. Every now and again similar pipes show up on Ebay that are only slightly more expensive and you don't have to subsidize shady business practices. I think I'll wait.

Yeah, I asked about his and he was honest and up-front about what he was selling. I probably would have purchased them but they were gone by the time I made my decision. OK, which one of you have my pipes???

I got them from Huy Tran for $120 or so. The hose clamps were correct and the fit and finish were good.

However, they do NOT work well with the stock air box. The bottom hose does not have the right contours and it barely fits. The silicon couplers need to be bent and twisted to fit. It is off by 1" where you attach to the turbo and the top is the wrong angle to hook into the stock box. You have to stretch the silicon coupler to make it fit. I tried turning it around thinking I was attaching it wrong, but it fit even worse that way.

It kinda sucks as the ad says it works with the stock airbox, but its better than a ripped factory hose.

I have the Huy Tran pipes, and am using them with a CWR intake box. They work just fine w/ a little trimming here and there on the silicon couplers. The lower coupler to the primary turbo inlet i actually trimmed at an angle to help complete the arc needed...

The hard intake pipes that HUYBIZ DOES NOT fit correctly if you have the M2 CF Airbox. I bought them a couple of weeks ago. The top pipe will fit perfectly but the bottom pipe was not bent corectly. I ended up having to cut off approx. 1/2" off one side, and almost 3/4" of the other side. If you have a regular chopsaw with a carbide blade, you can cut the pipe, just go slowly- and carefully. Keep an eye as to what angle your cuts will be, because they will not be exactly parallel to the factory cuts. Also after I finally got the bottom pipe to fit, I cut the rubber coupler in half, and basically used one whole coupler to finish the bottom pipe. I could not use the whole coupler because the lower pipe's tight radius and its short length. The installation was turing into a damn nightmare, and it took about an hour to take off the originals, cut and recut to fit, and install them. I lucked out and was able to make both ends of the lower pipe mate perfectly to the airbox and the turbo intake

To ammend my previous post on fitment, with the lower pipe on the CWR, i actually inserted the lower pipe THROUGH the hole in the back of the CF intake box, and clamped the filter directly to the 3/4" of pipe that stuck through, in addition to trimming the lower coupler at an angle to complete the arc.

There no way i could have used a coupler to the existing alluminum pipe on the CWR, and THEN clamped the filter to that pipe. Unfortunately, i don't think you have that option w/ an M2, cuz the pipes are permanently fixed to the box.

This is exactly what i wanted anyway, to push the lower filter as far back ads possible to give a little cleaner shot of air at the upper (secondary) filter.

This thread's kinda old, but I just installed my Ebay intake pipes from "Huybiz" this morning, and I remember people wanting pics.

The fitment was pretty good. Came with 2 polished aluminum pipes, 4 blue silicone couplers, and 8 ring clamps. People said that the ring clamps were too big or something, but mine were exactly the right size.

Pretty good deal for around $100 shipped.

Here's some pics for everyone.

I got my kit form XOXO yesterday an did the intsall last night. The pipes have a chrome like finish and the blue couplers were pretty thick but fit perfect on the pipes and stock engine connecting parts. All 8 clamps provided were way to big so they were useless for this application

The long pipe that connects to the secondary Turbo was the right length. The lower primary turbo pipe was/is another story. The bend in the pipe is a little off and when it's connected to the intake (I have a Blitz) the Filter is elevated about 1 1/4 inch from it's original position. I had to cut and shape the coupler in order for the pipe to get a better fit.

The filters (2) are very well made. They "look" as if they're made of S/S mesh, just like the real expensive ones (I just ordered Blitz filters for 196.00). BUT.......the filters supplied with this kit will not work with the kit cause their I.D is too big for a direct pipe/filter type system.

All in all, 90.00 bucks shipped isn't too bad when you consider that most kits sold on the (net - RX7 venders) cost close to 300.00.

I think that there are two schools here, one of which are just using the pipes with filters on the end and two, the guys that are trying to hook these up to a stock or M2 style intake. While of course they'll fit with just filters, they will NOT fit completely with an actual intake box, at least the primary won't. The secondary pipe does fit well, as it's long enough to play with the angles and get a decent alinment, but the primary turbo, forget about it!
I've said it before, but all you're getting is a $80-110 top hardpipe and couplers with a couple useless, oversized clamps.
My $.02

Frank
