Anyone use side tower braces?

http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com...il.php?ID=1754

Doesn't seem to be a popular mod.

Something similar to this kind of mounting:

I cannot see that really offering the ability to significantly, if any, stiffen the chassis over the core frame on an FD3S.

What does anyone else think?

IMO, all those small stiffeners (the under frame ones and these) are pointless. If you want/need the chassis that stiff, add a roll bar/cage. That will stiffen the car up a lot more with a more functionality (like saving your life in a wreck).

Many choose not to put in the rollcage with personal reasons. Mine is I want to car to look very clean...stock..inside. And, it's a bit more difficult to get in and out the car. Already not easy with my long stuff

I like the ones on my car more. Better made and yes they help a little. I already have a 7 point.

Those types of stiffeners are probably more effective with a 7 point roll cage. Also, depending on your type of racing, they could be a waste of $$$ and time. If your into drifting/road racing/auto cross, they may help...but us drag racers wouldn't benefit at all from them.

Yeah they are feed. The design has a changed a small amount, but they are still available like this.

Also I have seen them in chrome.... Just to help to the resistance to corrosion

Not to mention the non-visible bling factor

hehe Yeah I was thinking the same thing when I saw them, so I said "why chrome? you cant even see it" LOL But yeah its for the corrosion purposes since you know there is a lot of dirt and it does get wet in there too.

A structurally integrous aluminum would be the best bet for lightweight and corrosion-resistance. If not that, then SS.

I still cannot see how these braces would even do much considering that the chassis already had implicit bracing with the firewall and subframe. Plus the fenders are not exactly mounted on the car in a rigid manner to begin with.
