Question Anyone have a good dash reflection fix?

When I first bought my FD (over 4 years ago), I noticed this bad reflection of the dash and instrument hood, onto the inside if the windshield. It made it harder to see when the sun was in certain positions in the sky. I guess I just got used to it, and didn't notice it so much anymore. Yesterday I was driving, and it started bugging me again. I don't put anything shiny on the dash, and I'm not buying one of those crappy dash mats. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has found a way to reduce the reflection from the dash and hood.

Thanks, Adam

adam,

are you allowed to tint your front windshield in Cali? Maybe that would knock it down some.

Other wise I say paste some nudie girl pixs on your dash...hey if you have to look at a glare might as well be something nice to stare at

For the dash, I use a non-shiny vinyl cleaner. It helps reduce any reflections.

I believe both Blue Magic and Amor All both have a low gloss cleaner (I use Blue Magic).

Since I have owned the car, I have never put any kind of conditioner on the dash. I didn't want anything (even slightly) shiny on there. If I have to leave the car in the sun for more than a few minutes, I use a dash shade. Since the dash sees no sun, I don't see the need for a protectant.

In Ca., tinting is not legal on the two front windows or windshield. I wonder if a clear coat of tinting would help?

I use the protectant to actually dull it a little. The protectant I use leaves a clean but non-shiny finish. I've never had a problem with that part reflecting on the windshied. However, my guage hood does reflect as it was repainted not too long ago. The reflection though is so low on the windshield that it doesn't bother me.

Maybe I'll try that blue magic stuff. I wonder if it will dull the dash & hood enough to make a difference. Can it be duller than nothing on it at all.??

Is it really that bad? I could understand if your interior already HAD been painted, but I don't think your going to do much better than satin black as it is.

The best you could do is maybe strip and paint only the back-half of the hood with something flatter... like primer.
