anyone have 3rd gen lsd specs?

Anyone have specs on 3rd gen LSD diffs? I'm looking for diameter of ring gear, length of pinion, is the LSD clutch type, torsen, number of splines, diameter of axels, etc... more info and measurements the better.

I heard that 3rd gen LSD can fit in REPU with minor machinework and am doing a comparison for feasability.

Thanks,
Brad

tom93r1 has a REPU and a 3rd Gen. He may be able to help you out. PM him as he is always willing to chat with other REPU guys.

Ford 8.8" ring and pinion on the left, FD 8.0" (203mm) ring and pinion on the right.

FD Torsen differential on the left, Ford 8.8" Zexel Torsen T2-R differential on the right.

I'll post the number of axle splines and diameter when I get home tonight, as well as the number of bolts on the ring gear.

They were nearly new (~13k miles) and they were for sale. Gone now.

The FD inner axle shaft is 1.2085" diameter with 30 splines. I do have a pair of those around here somewhere, I think. 10 bolts hold the ring gear to the differential.

Thanks tons Jim. That really helps out. REPU has 30 spline axels, I'll check inner axel diameter and bolt holes. Could be a fit.

Anyone know what the diameter of the bolt holes are, and overall diameter of bolt circle? Like from one side directly across to other side. Measured center of hole to center of opposite hole?

I doubt you're going to find that kind of information here. Most people that have their gears swapped don't do it themselves because of the difficulty in setting it up properly. I just happened to have mine out for pictures because I was trying to get a 3.42:1 ring and pinion cut at that time.

I didn't take measurements of the bolt circle, unfortunately, but I believe they were 14mm bolts, so the threads would probably have been M10x1.25 (10mm diameter).

Your best bet is probably to find someone on Torque Central who is swapping 3.90 gears into a V8-converted FD who can take some measurements while they're at it.
