Question anyone ever bring back the redline buzzer after getting a PFC?

I was driving my FB the other day, and it has a nice redline buzzer...made me miss the buzzer my FD used to have.

For some reason, I lost the buzzed after my PFC was installed. I know other forum members had the same happen to them... anyone ever manage to bring back the buzzer??

Mine still has a joy buzzer even with the PFC. My pfc just killed my ac. If you want to fix your joy buzzer and cant find another solution so what I did to fix my A/C...just bypass the system completely. In this case I'd just get an RPM switch, use a relay. DONE.

Hook up the stock ecu make sure it really works.

I'm pretty sure it works because I used to enjoy hearin it before I had the PFC installed...

Right now tho, I don't even know where to begin to try and check if it's working and bring it back...

Is yours a 93 by any chance? Because the 93s required splicing of the wires to get the A/C to work right, so you prob just didn't splice the wires correctly...

yes it is...do a search in the PFC forum. The AC tends not to work when the fan is in position "3"

In a nutshell it seems either to be related to:

1) switch itself (as someone cleaned the AC switch on the dash and got the AC to work)

2) 93 models...issue less common with 94, and 95 (my 94 worked without a problem)

3) engine harness (some have swapped the engine harness out due to it being old and brittle, and the AC would work)

I have a PFC in my car and the redline limiter warning is still working.

...or maybe it's only in my head ? Nah... just test it 10 minutes ago

it has nothing to do with a R1 or a 93 or 94 or 95. I have done a ton of research on this. I can tell you that I know 93's such as my mechanic where the ac works on all 4 positions. Yet Rynberg's 95 has this problem and my 94 does also. I had replaced my blower switch and it worked for a month then stopped working again. I have traced it to the power FC unit itself.

I gave up on it and just did my custom wiring and now the AC freezes the car. hell, I get frost out of the vents!!

My 94 buzzer still works with PFC and the AC also works on all 4 settings. I also had to clip some wires. can't remember which ones. I guess i am lucky.

Man...so there's no procedure you can follow to help bring back the buzzer, or isolate the problem that caused it to disappear??

Because it's obvious that you can have the PFC and keep the buzzer...

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that it's an integral part of the tach/speedo board and relies on the same signal as the tach... so maybe, if your tach is working, but the beeper isn't, you should be looking there instead of the ECU. Good luck, Newbie!

Ramy, I could be wrong but it seems that some people have it and some don't. Are you sure you lost it after putting the PFC in? Perhaps it was after you put the center channel gauge pod in? I don't recall that speaker ever making sound so it could have been only used for the redline buzzer. I don't have mine anymroe and I don't have that speaker and you don't have your center speaker anymore either. Could this be the missing link?

Hat in the ring. My buzzer and a/c in all four positions works the same as it did with the stock ecu as it does now with the (four snipped pins) PFC. This is the second PFC (first one died--long story) and similarly the first functioned correctly, too, right up until it took a ****.

So there is some more anecdotal evidence for your pipe....FDNewbie

InsaneGideon, the tach is working...but it's like I had no idea where to begin looking... Guess that's something i'll have to look into.

Dan, yea I'm pretty sure that I lost the buzzer waay back in the day when I had the PFC installed. Still had the center speaker, but it wasn't hooked up to the existing sound system (sidenote: I have *never* to date heard what the center speaker sounds like lol). So I doubt it is the speaker. It's a good guess tho.

Another reason why I don't think it's the center speaker is, we've got all sorts of buzzers and alarms in the car. I don't think any of them are associated w/ the center speaker. Door ajar buzzer, coolant buzzer, rev buzzer, airbag buzzer, etc.

In fact, I could be wrong (since I haven't heard it in so long), but aren't the coolant and rev buzzer practically the same sound?

TangoSore, like you and Dan have said, I know 100% that some ppl have it, and some don't, w/ the PFC, as the earlier responses on this thread indicate, when I first started it a few months back. The reason why I wrote it as "bring back the redline buzzer" in the thread topic was to show I was talking about after losing it due to a PFC install. I just can't figure out where to start looking...lol. My A/C works 100% tho!

Well when I take out my dash for the cage install I'll look around and see what I can come up with. I guess that would be a good time to get ride of all of the air bag equipment as well. Except the passenger air bag. The cage will keep me protected pretty well but sometimes i forget to check and see if the g/f is buckled in and she doesn't sometimes.

Tell her "the Doc" is saying she better start buckling up. I don't wanna have to bring her to the hospital w/ me and show her what happens when you don't...

Oh and Dan, this time, pull the airbag light, but leave the airbag computer in, cuz that controls the passenger airbag. I'm actually gonna have to get someone to help me put the computer back in, cuz right now I have NO airbags. Sure, you'll have an annoying 5 beeps on startup, but I figure it'll complement the 5 beeps I get on shut down from my headunit LOL
