Anyone bought Mazda parts from JDM Planet before ?
I bought rebuild seals from them recently because prices were a little better than from Mazda dealers.
The parts do closely resemble genuine Mazda parts I've removed, especially when compared to terrible quality Chinese knock off kit parts.
The problem for me is that even though plastic parts bags are stamped "genuine Mazda parts" in black ink everywhere,
the black ink labels rub off or are easily removed when tape is peeled back, as you might expect with forgeries, instead of familiar blue banded labels normally associated with Mazda OEM parts. My thinking is that JDM Planet might either be sourcing from the manufacturer Mazda gets various small parts from, as grey market, ie- they might possibly be expired parts that get repackaged and sold instead of thrown out ?
For soft seals it would matter. I guess the fact that packaging differs bothers me more than actual parts, at this early juncture.
Does anyone have prior experience or info about dealings with this company ? They appear to sell used engines from Japan primarily.
Thanks

Be careful where you order from. There are a number of companies selling aftermarket rebuild parts and some even cross reference the oem part numbers, making it confusing. If you need help contact me at the shop. I should be able to price match or beat any price you see on genuine parts.
I keep reading about ordering from Ray Crowe in all kinds of posts but as best I can tell the dealer he worked at no longer exists. Who is this guy and how do we order parts through him?

Ray has been around for a long time and knows these cars backwards and forwards. I see him every year at Deal's Gap, he's a great down-to-earth guy and will treat you right.
He's also a great resource if you're trying to find a part but can't find a part number or find it in the parts catalog, or if you think a part may be discontinued. He can give the definitive answer on any part.

JDM Planet did respond yesterday stating that Mazda has adopted new packaging using black ink. I haven't verified this with a local Mazda dealer yet, but if true, I guess they deserve an apology for my suggesting packaging looked "counterfeit".
"Different from past Mazda packaging" might have been a better choice of words.

+1 for Ray. The dealer he works for no longer sells Mazda, but he still gets his magic hands on OEM parts for prices better than I've seen on most websites. No joke. Also, some of the last parts I ordered from Ray had the B&W stickers.
Do not buy from jdm planet
I placed an order october 19 and emailed them countless times about when my order will be shipped. Got no reply. Not once email back.
On october 29th. I emailed again asking whats going on. U scamming me? Why havent i heard anything for over 10 days about my order. And few mins later i got refund.
This is the customer service they have for customers. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Reported them to bbb
do not buy anything from jdm planet. They will take your money and take months without any info about shipment. My friends cousin ordered miata weather strips. They did not ship his item for 3 months. He had to ask for refund.
Do not waste your time with jdm planet. They will scam you. They are scammers.

not to down play your situation, but am pretty sure that they’re legit
sometimes emails get kicked out as spam, they also can’t ship a part that’s on backorder, sometimes underlings aren’t doing their job properly and the manager hasn’t caught on yet, etc.
they have a contact page on their website
https://jdm-planet.com/contact/
also an ebay store that you can contact them through as well
https://www.ebay.com/str/jdmplanet
in my general experience, japanese companies aren’t as responsive wrt overseas customer service and can possibly think overseas customers are rude and excessively pushy/demanding by the language being used even though that may not be the customers intent. Try to remember it’s a different country with a different culture than your own.

there is also a language barrier, even when the Japanese person speaks English, its not a given that they will understand idioms
and then third, there is a big cultural difference.
