anybody successfully reseal leaky m.mount bolts
looks like the motor mount bolts are leaking on my rebuild. since its JUST the mm bolts, wondering if I can cheat and just try to reseal them. rather than taking off the pan. Anyone have any luck with this??

I got the same prob. But its not the MM bolt its one of the little ones beside that is stripped. I'm also trying to think how to seal it back up w/o dropping the whole pan. But I have no answer yet , I willl keep watch here.

Nope is the correct answer! Also when you replace the gasket and reseal everything, make sure you recheck and recheck, and recheck the torque on the small 6mm bolts(10mm head). After you tighten the engine mounts they like to loosen up a bit.(espeacially the ones directly behind the mounts.) I just lossened the mounts after initial torque, rechecked the outside bolts and then retorqued the mount bolts......Did I mention to RECHECK the small bolt torque!Hahaha!

good idea, I bet tightening the big bolts compresses the gasket/sealant enough to cause the little bolts to leak. I'll try to tighten the little ones before I take things apart. If it still leaks then, I think I'll get that oil pan girdle Looks like the root of the problem is the huge torque variation between the 2 adjacent bolts of dramatically different size. Really shouldn't have been designed that way. (gawd, I find myself saying that a lot with this thing!)

I've heard that the gasket sucks. When mine was leaking I just used sealant, no gasket, make sure that you clean it well and give it good set up time. Make sure that you Torque the bolts in a descent order and ensure that they all have the same torque.

Sorry to bring this one back from the grave, but how did you guys reach the small 10mm head bolt by the engine mount bolts? I can not get a wrench or socket on those to check the torque. And another question, can you remover the oil pan without pulling the engine? Mine leaks really, really bad and it needs attention.

oil leak continued
It turned out most of the oil was coming from the level sender and the trans drain plug, just an occasional bit from the pan. I'll attend to that soon enough (no gasket, pan reinforcement)
