Any Tips For Putting A Door Back On?

I was having some problems with my power windows , and wanted to clean the door harness from corossion , run some heviar speaker guage wire , and remove a pos alarm system that was installed when I bought my FD. I removed the door just fine , and everything was going great until I tried to put the door back on.

I tried with a friend this evening and I can't for the life of me get everything centered and get the door back on. So now my FD is sans the driver door , and for all of my effort I have scraped the paint , and become frustrated to no end lol.

I will probably win the worst member of the day for this , but I would really applicate it if any of you had any tips , and or advice for getting the door back on the right way. Thanks in advance for any help!

Try a jack stand with a large piece of wood on it. Get asomeone to balance the door and use the jack to raise the door into position.

I've taken my door off and put it back several times by myself...

The hard part is getting it aligned into position so you can insert the bolts.

I use a couple of tires. I forget the tire size, but you can get the right size by opening your other door and shoving tires under it - with a protective cloth - until the door is being supported by the tires.

Then once you know how much support you need under the door:

(1) move those tires to the side without the door.
(2) place the tires in a position where the door will be when it is wide open
(3) then holding the door vertically level, slide the door and the tires to the body until you can then insert the bolts.

Just wanted to bump this to give thanks where its due. After two tries with helpers , and still not getting the door on , I tried your suggestion this afternoon , and with just myself , and a little luck I got the door back on nice and easy.

Thanks again for helping a brother out!
