little help,,,cold start 1 rotor?

hi guys,,,im after a little input on my cold start poor running:-

Over the summer iv modded the car,, large intercooler, Y pipe , air filters, downpipe, and removed the air pump. Car has been ok apart from the lumpy idle.(air pump removal )
Now it has come to winter ive developed a problem that im starting to get worried about. When i go and start the car from cold it runs on only 1 rotor (dont ask me how i know this but trust me its 1 rotor),, it runs like this for a 3/4 seconds then the 2nd rotor starts to fire a bit then suddenly kicks in and then engine runs fine (once its warm car is fine can be left for hours and when i return its fine, its just when i leave it outside in the cold for maybe 14+ hours).
Im not sure what to check,,, i pulled the plugs and alluminuim oxide blasted them to clean them up (look like new) but this didnt help (plugs are maybe 8000 miles old maybe i need new ones).
Maybe with the temprature been so cold and running standard ECU with no airpump is making the car way to rich on start up. Only other things i can think of are maybe a failing coil,,, maybe a leaky injector?? anything else guys?

Thats what I'm thinking. I had a customer with the same symptoms the other day. Any white smoke when the car is started up?

tiger18,

I would start by pulling the plugs and then try cranking the engine (with the EGI pulled) with rags over the holes. Sniff the rags to see if any fluid shot out onto them.

You could either have a leaky injector flooding a little (and it just takes it a while to get rid of that excess fuel) or it could be some other (bad) liquid. That's where I would start and then go from there.

ok mahjik,,,,, ill try pull ECU codes, im gonna switch in new spark plugs ,,, and ill try the rag thing over spark holes (im not lossing any coolant) (im personally thinking leaking injector, might try see if the fuel rail hold pressure over a few hours with a gauge)
