Any electricians can help me make a remote switch for the profec B?
Well, anyone who know me knows that i am not a fan of alot of guages....
I would like to use the remote Greddy switch (and move the boost controller to the glove box)....but don't want that radio frequency switch velcro'd to my steering wheel.
The receiver that plugs into the back of the profec looks like a simple mono head phone adapter...
Does anyone know if it would be easy to make say a switch to trigger this???
ps...if the greddy remote switch pic doesn't show up I'll try to post the pic later. (dang server)

what I want to ultimately do is to make a WIRED switch placed in the blank spot between the switchs in the FD for the rear defroster and fog lamps and run the wire to the Profec in the glove box....
It might be very easy, it all depends on what they're switch does. It looks like just one button right, so push on, push off? How many conductors in the wire that plugs into the Profec itself? Looks like it has an LED so...I'm guessing 3...power, ground and a signal for your switch. You can test it out by figuring out which one is your signal, and then find out what it does when you push the button. The easiest way involves butchering that cord and connector, but if you're not going to use it anyway...

True, that was what I was thinking also...
but in my basic electronic experience...I once tried to rewire a similar mono plug and really "screwed the pooch"! It was a big mess and failure
Plus, I currently don't have access to a ohm meter...and I don't have that remote Greddy Switch in my possession to play with.
I did see it for the cheapest of $93 on the web...but if I hack it and ruin it...damn no lunch money for me!
But if I hack the switch...how would I test it??? Sorry I really am a eletrical newbie...

I thought you had the switch already...yeah, it would suck to buy it and then mess it up. Do you know if the plug is a "mono" or "stereo" style plug?
My general plan, if I had the switch, would be to see what happens electrically at the plug when you push the button. Of course you'd have to power the receiver I guess. Hence all the cord-hacking. Without the switch, you could mess with the input jack, but then you're risking the whole unit if you mess it up, rather than just the switch.

I'm not sure about the plug end type. I know that there are some guys on the forum that have it and I can probably PM them.
I really just have a simple question on how those damn plugs work anyways. Is it like you said with a power ground and signal?? On those mono plugs...is there a standard on the plug for the location of the power and ground?
In an old old thread...someone suggested rewiring the plug in the front of the profec b. That really looks like a simple switch. But I would hate to screw the Profec like you said.
But really, this has got to be easy...and think about everyone here with the Profec B. A quick write up...some parts from Radio Shack and you can control your boost with a button that you could place anywhere in your car!!!
ahhh....pipe dreams
