Another wrecked FD.

I just wrecked my FD.... I hit a patch of ice with the drag radials and lost the rear end. But I tell you what, I showed the guardrail a thing or two... I'll get pics tomorrow when I get batteries for my camera.

Before anyone asks, I'm perfectly fine. The car on the other hand....not so good.

I need a new fender, quarter panel, gas cap and lid, and some work to the door. Probably $3K worth of work...

What sux is, I just had it painted and it has a rebuilt motor in it, and a new t04z turbo. As for insurrance, I only have liability so that's out...It's time to put in the extra hours at work again....

Damn that blows, good to know you're alright! As for driving an FD without full coverage... I wouldn't do it... Good luck with the rebuild!

Not just radials, drag radials.

To put things in perspective, I store a stock FB for the winter.

Glad you're okay, and the car will be fixable and you'll make it nice, I'm sure.

Glad to hear you're okay. At least you're fixing her up. Some guys I know here in Canada, even with a mint/showroom condition POS tend to just scrap it and buy some other same-year POS in worse condition, knowing it'll cost 'em less just to fix the one they wrecked.

How bad did you bung up the rear fenders?

where are these picts?? i'm curious to see the damage. my fd decided to drift 200 ft down a hill into a tree after 10 min of idoling with the e-brake pulled. i was quoted 7k, so i could prob compare damage. and give you a decent idea what you'll be paying

FWIW, that's the absolute slipperiest kind of ice - the road is still cold with ice frozen to it, and the ice surface is wet because it is melting. That could catch you out with any tires.

I hate seeing these threads. I don't understand why people even take a chance. Are you really that desperate to drive your FD that you'd take it out in such poor weather? ****, I haven't driven mine in over 1 1/2 years and I STILL wouldn't drive in this weather.

G/L with the repairs and I'm glad you're okay.

It'll buff out... :p

I've been driving in the slush here in the NW, and seeings this makes me want to consider picking up an FB, which would be cheaper than dinging up a fender on the FD...

(I've seen FB's go for < 500~$2k, which is cheaper than fenders/repaint)
