another rotary down for the count
iam at a total loss here. i have no clue what happened. i was driving... and i went up to about 5grand then shifted. stopped for a stop sign and all of a sudden my cars idle is wack.. it starts stutting from about 400-1000. i give my friend chris a call who has an FD and he says it could be carbon build up and for me to put some gas in it and drive a lil longer to see what happens.
so i put a lil gas in it and drive for about 5 more mins. my friend is behind me in his car telling me when i come to a stop... i spit out very faint black smoke. nothing major but up close you kno its black. when im actually driving its white... not sure how white tho.. i cant see it out of the rear view.
this happened yesterday afternoon and im hearing everything from turbo seals to apex seals and its really starting to freak me out. has this happened to anyone else? can anyone help me out? its getting to me so bad i had a dream about the whole thing
me and my friend pulled over right away and checked the engine out and everything seems to be in place and no weird smells or nothing.
the compression check i'll have to find a place around here to have that done

Just buy a $20 piston compression tester. It doesn't need to be exact. If your engine is blown, even a quick/cheapy test will show it. Here's some info:

Oddly enough, on the HUNDREDS of FC's and FD's I have worked on and see, I have NEVER seen a map sensor hose come off. In fact, usually when it comes time to disconnect the hose, I have to pull and twist on it to the point that I am afraid the nipple is going to break off.
To hear you guys on this forum tell it, there are never any blown engine FD's, just FD's with map sensor vacuum hoses that fell off.

I had recently done a vacuum hose job on it, so it had been disconnected and reconnected. Once you take it off, it needs a zip tie, a clamp or a new hose that fits tighter.

When Ive had problems with my fd that had a blown motor as an option, beyond a visual check tha first thing I do is a compression check.
Knock out tha compression test asap before u ruin all ur boxers shittin urself while pokin around everywhere else under tha hood. Rule it out so u know its sumthing little.

yep. its blown.
damn seals
i had a thought that came in my head to just sell the damn thing. ever since i bought it ive had to replace a bunch of **** that went out and do so much other **** to it just to keep everything in working order. but i think i just got ripped off on the buyers end. the seller didnt know who rebuilt the engine so i guess i shoulda been more cautious.
i cant sell it tho.. i love these cars. im gonna be optimistic about the situation, this time i'll kno atleast who rebuilt the motor and that its going to be done right. Rotary Resurrection i'll call ya in the spring!
