Possible Issues from this? (Pics included!!!)

So I was checking my engine because I was about to do a comp check because I'm selling the engine...

anyways.. i found this... it is the piece of piping right before the factory intercooler (on the turbo side obviously).

Has anyone seen this tube split like this? I have no sharp objects around... I am working on putting it back together with some high temp sealant... or is it too high of pressure on that side to hold?

What problems would a hole like this produce?
For example.. my temps have been running hotter... my idle is a bit rough sometimes. .. etc

thanks,
pauli

First of all that is a huge boost leak you have there. Just replace the pipe with a new one because no glue is going to hold that together. This will definitely mess up your idle.

The main issue resulting from that (and it's not possible, but definite) is a major loss of boost due to the leak. You will have to replace the coupler, glue won't hold it together.

The leaking coupler won't affect your coolant temps (has nothing to do with the coolant system) or your idle (it's not on the engine side of the TB).

confirmed

haha so i went out and tested it.. holy hell its the first time ive seen north of 10 psi on my boost gauge!!!

it didn't take long to blow it but wow that automatic was chirping the tires when it did its 1st to 2nd switch.

Do you know what the exact name of this component is called so I can find out how much/where I can get one?

This has definately been my boost leak culprit!

I had a boost leak a little while ago (couldn't get mors than 4psi). It turned out to be the lower intercooler hose had split just like yours. It is a common problem. When I first checked it for a tear I didn't even notice it and re-installed it looking at other hoses. THen I read a post about sometimes having to squeeze the pip to see the tear. Here is the post I made about it a while back...

I'm making it work till I can get this part!
