Another meeting of FD for a track weekend- Road Atlanta in August

There is a pretty good size group heading to VIR this month and there has been alot of interest in Road Atlanta. I think the NASA-SE event on August 6-8 is a good choice.

All event and registration information can be found here:

Let me know if you have any questions.

OMG

How hot is it down there around that time? Looks like there's one on December 3-5th too.

It's hot, but it's nothing unmanageable. I ran this event last year and my water temps stayed right at 84-85C during 20 minute sessions. The outside temp at December event ranged from 25-50F with quite a bit of wind. We had a motor home there so we were fortunate in that regard.

I'm gonna try my hardest to come in August then. I'll probably be in HDPE-1 or 2 I guess, how many sessions do you get if you remember?

You know I'll be there in August, and June as long as I get my car finished. If I don't finish the 7 in time I may just run the 8 this time around. I'm really in need of track time since Dec was my last event.

Maybe. Having driven RA in an open wheel car with Barber (no liability) I thought I'd never drive my FD there, but it doesn't seem quite as bad now. That final corner needs runoff area it'll never get though, and the hill is WAY steeper than it appears on video.

Hope you guys can make it. Road Atlanta really isn't that bad since they revised the track. Turn 10a/b scrubs off alot of speed. I am around 115mph at the apex of turn 12(the one with the concrete wall staring you in the face as you come down the hill) and am more than comfortable with that speed. I'm more scared of 1 and 7. 7 just because I fight tooth and nail for every mph in the turn so I can try to hang with the V8 cars with torque. I think I've now solved that problem I'd like to go faster in the rotary through 12, but I'm basically flat on the floor as soon as I throw it into 10a. A sequential twins system(Peter) or a faster spooling single(Crispy) would build power alot faster than my single, but we'll never know until you guys turn some hot laps
