Another housing quest

I searched but most of everything I could find was about chrome flake.

So anyway, I just picked up a used engine. It’s been sitting for a minimum of 2 years on a “fresh” rebuild. It at least looks like it was never fired up and there is still assembly grease on a lot of parts. It did have water in it so the rotors have rust but should clean up. The housing however look pretty ruff to me.

Can these housing be used for a temporary rebuild. I’m trying to save up for a house and want the car running long enough until I can do a proper rebuild after I buy a house.

Also the rear housing should still be good on my car. So I can use that for the rebuild.

Those housings look fine. Better/newer housings will give better compression but that is a very usable housing, will give good compression and won't give you any problems.

If they measure out per the fsm they should be fine. Personally I'd do a mild resurfacing to even out the minor wear I see. Goopy, Chip, and a few others offer the service.
