2 days ago i dropped in my new motor, filled her up with fluids and fired her up. She right up, sputtered and then died. I tried to fire her up again, but no luck. I checked under the car and saw something leaking. It was damn fuel.

I crawled under the car and saw it leaking from my exhaust manifold and down pipe gaskets. So i end up tripping the pump to see if i can see where it is leaking but, nothing. I can smell and hear the leak, but can't see where it originates from. Just great.

I end up taking off the UIM and put the rats nest to the side. Trip it again, but don't see any fuel leaking on the block. This time i take the primary and secondary fuel rails out, extend the fuel lines and put a shop towel under the injectors. I trip the pump, and 1 primary and both secondaries spray fuel on the towel.

I then click tested each injector. Both secondaries clicked just fine. 1 primary in which is the same primary that was spraying fuel did not click, which came to the conclusion that it is stuck open.

Are both secondaries or any injector suppose to spray when i trip the pump? If not, then why did they pass the click test? I used a used LIM metal gasket with low miles, could that be leaking?

when you "trip" the pump, what are you doing? turning the key? What is your fuel setup, stock?

There is a fuel pump diagnostic connector. You can jumper this and it will make the pump run continuously so you can troubleshoot leaks under the manifolds.

 

If you have an external fuel leak it is most likely a hose or o-ring. What kind of fuel setup are you running? It is very easy to incorrectly seat the stock fuel injector inulators if you are not careful? Did you use new o-rings?

Sorry, i shouldve been more specific. When i trip the pump, I connect the GND with the F/P and turn the key to the "on" position. I have a Walbro fuel pump with stock 550's and 850's.

I'm definately positive that it is not a hose and other accessories such as the FPD. I had the injectors serviced by RC ENG with new rings etc.

I do the same test as Mahjik does in his post here:

... when i do this test and trip the pump, both secondaries and 1 primary start spraying fuel. When i click test them, both secondaries click just fine and the primary that is spraying fuel when i trip the pump does NOT click. Is it normal for the injectors (both primary and secondary) to spray when i trip the pump?

Did you use the o-rings provided by RC Engineering?

 

Oh Geez. Sorry guys i totally forgot to update the thread. 2 things. My primary injector was stuck open because i did not immediately install the injectors right when i received them from RC. Also, i did use the o-rings provided by RC, but bought an OEM set from Malloy and used those instead. Put everything back together, tested it and no more fuel leak. Thanks guys!
