Alarm upgrades?

Did a search couldn't find anything on alarms. Is it possible to upgrade to a remote alarm and keyless entry? Has anyone done this ? Also what brands?
Thanks in advance.

Hey, I'm looking for that too. I'm interested in the keyless entry security system. The RX-7 I've got is the most advanced car I've had in my garage, but its the only one in years that I've had without a remote. Its driving me nuts because keys are too easy to just drop in your pockets. I need some kind of toy to play with everytime I get out of the car so I'll remember to lock it. Plus locking it before closing the door is gonna crack my wrist one of these days from holding the handle up while I'm in a hurry slamming the door. And its even worse when the lady doesn't get it closed all the way and it sits outside the mall unlocked. Let me know who's got remote systems available when you find out. Prices?

No personal experience with the keyless entry mod but I've heard it doesn't really work. Or it only works for a while and then the lock actuator breaks.

I'm coming off a 4-year run with a keyless entry car myself and personally, it's not a big deal. BTW, lock the door with the key. Holding the door handle up is too hard on the stupidly fragile mechanism.

Well, since you have a working system, could you tell us the details? I mean it's not a big deal to me, but if I COULD get a reliable keyless entry system, I would probably do it.

Do a search!!! Icemark and Spyfish could give you some really good pointers. I'm going to be doing this with my Viper alarm and my FD soon.

I had a viper installed in mine... I think all they did was disable the factory alarm and installed the viper using new door lock actuators.

You need to setup a door actuator to open the driver's side door from inside. You also have to set it up so it disablies the factory alarm when it opens the door. If you have a turbo timer you must rig it up so it works with that to.
