Airpump removal is easy. However, I think that you could get to the tstat housing (3 bolts) without the airpump being removed. I don't remember 100% as I completely removed mine a while back, so if you really want to remove the air pump:
-. Loosen the Alternator belt tensioner assembly.
-. Remove all hoses and electrical connections to the Air Pump.
-. The Air pump has two bolts that need to be removed. First Loosen the to bolt that is on the block. Then remove the bottom bolt that is on the adjustment bracket. Remove belt from the airpump. Hold the air pump and remove the top bolt.
I believe that's all it should take.

if you can remove the tstat without removing the air pump that would be great but to my knowledge the tstat housing is located under the pump maybe i'm in the wrong place can you see the tstat without removing the pump?

Ok, if you remove the bottom bolt on the airpump bracket, and you remove the belt, you can swing the airpump up and tighten the top bolt so it stays in position. This should give you enough room. Probably easier if you just remove the airpump.
Good luck.
Good luck.
