Air Pump Diagnosis
High Ya'll,
Think my air pump is bad. It's got 140 grand on it, so I think you could carbon date it. Anyways, how do you check it? Any help would be great. Alan.

This is why I was asking this guy what his symptoms were.. I might just be a hose connected to the air pump, not the air pump itself.

i think mine is dead.
of course the belt is running through it but the center part ( where a bolt is located in the center of pulley) doesnt move at all.
if i remember correctly, air pump is supposed to work below 3000 rpm. and that includes when idling.
anyway, i just bought a n-tech hi-flow cat and an used air pump that has 45k on it.
just making sure, the center part (the bolt area) is supposed to rotating along with the pulley at idle, right?
thanks in advance

No weird noises, exept for an occasional click. I think thats the clutch engaging and disengaging. My exhaust always smells like sulfur and someone told me that could be from a failed air pump. I guess I should replace it anyhow. I found one on here for 75 bucks. Oh, I have the Bonez High Flow Cat....that might have something to do with it.

on my car i get a groan on decelleration. i believe the air pump broke some kind of baffle in my airbox because i heard something pop, opened my airbox for filter change and this plastic piece that connects to the upper part of the box was laying in there!don't use it anyway because i gutted my cat.
