Aftermarket Springs = Need alignment??

Went to a shop.. and they quoted
me $400 to install some Eibach springs. (waaay over priced).
then after I picked up my jaw off the ground, the guy
had the nerve to say. And that doesn't include alignment, which
he say is needed..

Needless to say I got out of there asap...

Anyways.. when you install springs.. Do you really need an alignment??

thanks

Take your car to Curry's Auto in Sterling, VA (www.currysauto.com). They'll quote you a fair price (tell 'em Ramy sent you) and they'll do the alignment for ya too. And yes, you do need it whenever you change the suspension/ride height.

You can always bring it to me...I will do it for a 30 pack on stones...A pack of smokes...And just for something to do... You could probabley drive down here and back and get it done cheaper than $400!!!

Yes- the car needs an alignment when it is lowered..

I just finished installing springs/struts in my car…I ran into a minor issue, but not that difficult to do..

You need to read up on basic suspension alignment and what it is and does.

My mechanic lowered just the rear of my car with springs , no aligment needed. I asked him, and he said it wouldn't effect it. It's been forever and everything is fine.

Any base change is ride hieght will and can affect camber and toe-in, and maybe caster. If the change was only 1/4" or less, than the change might still be within the acceptable range. But if you ever had your car race level aligned and corner weighted, you would know the difference.

Your mechanic is wrong. And you are running stiffer aftermarket springs at only the rear? Everything may be "fine", but you are not experiencing the true handling potential of your car.
